Ack! That's exactly what my 6' husband does. I'm not even 5' tall and I have a way lower SPL than he does. I'm lazier. There's just no other interpretation for it I glide. Actually, I'm still kicking a bit when I glide. He is almost entirely an upper body swimmer. Those strong biker's legs that he has? Nope.... hardly using them while swimming. He has fun in the water. He swims for hours at a time. He's working out. His resting heart rate is something like 25, seriously. His strategy is working for him. But it wouldn't work for me.

I am finding it more difficult to breathe when lengthening my stroke...not breathing as often!! Gasp, gasp!! Haven't noticed any time improvements yet, but I can swim for waaaayyy longer without getting tired.
