Age Group Rank = 2/7
Pre-race routine:

Cliff bar and water before the race.

Event warmup:

Light stretching and swim warmup to get the googles fit and wetsuit correct.
Swim
  • 28m 44s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

not very many people to draft off of. I was in the third wave.
What would you do differently?:

find the buoy and then find a landmark behind it. I kept losing the buoy two.
Transition 1
  • 03m 48s
Comments:

long transition slope from the water to the t1 corral. I was on the far side of the corral (closer to the exit) took a little trying to get the wetsuit off(haven't practiced much with the wetsuit)
What would you do differently?:

Practice with the removal of the wetsuit.
Bike
  • 1h 21m 38s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.26 mile/hr
Comments:

Lost my bottle on the first 2 miles of the first loop. SO I spent the rest of the bike without water. Took a gel within the first two miles on the bike(the reason I lost my bottle)Took the first loop kind of hard but felt good even on the second loop.
What would you do differently?:

Get my handle bar bottle back.
Transition 2
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Because I lost my bottle on the bike I was really thirsty by the time I got into t2. Spent some time drinking and was on the far side of the transition from the entrance and exit for the run.
What would you do differently?:

Not lose my bottle on the bike. Take to drinking at the first water stop instead of in the transition. or possibly run with my bottle and ditch it. belly felt really full after drinking.
Run
  • 48m 27s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

felt good on the run. Had a full belly so that didn't feel very good.took a gel at the 2 mile mark. Perfect timing.
What would you do differently?:

not drink as much coming off the bike.
Post race
Warm down:

HUNGRY!!!! DId a little stretching but not much.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training. first race of the season

Event comments:

I really like this course.I think they could have a bottle exchange on the bike, especially on hot days.
