It was great to meet ya'll today. I know you had a blast. USMC really puts on a great race.

So is anyone doing the Heartbreak Ridge Half Marathon?

Jeff, Jaw, good to meet you two. That was a lot of fun! The surf was a new experience for me.

Jeff - somebody (THIS GUY) got a new bike today - Cervelo P2SL. Watch out! I'm not sure your Team Mechanic (the little dude) can lift my aluminum bike like he can your CF Kalibur, though.

We'll have to ride together once I move out to the coast.

Dave congrats on the new bike and a great race! It was good meeting you and I look foward to riding in the future.

To all - I feel responsible for the majority of us not being able to meet up. When i picked the meeting spot of the announcer's booth, I based that on from when I did the Oly last month. Unfortunately that was at a different spot, which I didn't know was the case for the race. The booth at the previous race was about 50 feet from transition, not up a 1/2 mile hill.

I did run up there as a warm up at 7:15 but didn't see anyone, nor did I expect to. I hope everyone had a good race and hopefully next time we can all meet up!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great race. Kind of bummed we didn't meet up - but there will be a next time! My race went pretty good. I was happy with the swim, very pleased with the bike, and not unexpectedly pokey slow on the run. I finished in 1:59, which I'm proud of.

Yowser Eljeffe, 1st in your age group! That is so awesome!!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!!

On a weird bike note, I lost one of my water bottles around mile 3 (about 6 of us were in such a tight group, I didn't stop for it. Does that count as littering? I sure hope not. Oh well, someone got a cool new water bottle.). But also on the bike, I was aero, kicking right along, when out of nowhere, BAM! hit a pothole and my hand bounced up and clipped the bottom of my sunglasses. I have a truly impressive black eye as a souvenier of the race. My 4 boys and hubby think it's cool, but I am going to visit my family in Boston on Thursday. I don't think "cool" is a word they would use for it. Probably by then there will be some nice green and yellow mixed in with the red and purlple that is there now.

Train on!

Nice job on your race. Sounds like you had a blast. It's always fun to have cool stories for the kids. That run was all overt the place. Apparently 2 of the clydesdales skipped part of it because I got bumped to 9th whoohoo!

Keep in mind that even though they never bother enforcing the drafting rules at Camp Pendleton you are not supposed ride within a draft in USA Triathlon sanctioned races. Tight packs are dangerous. I think it's on page 9 of the USAT Competitive Rules. It's not only a rule to prevent people from getting free rides on your draft, it is also for safety. God forbid someone stops suddenly and ends up with an aerobar in thier backside. lol

As for the cool water bottle, I hope nobody crashed on it. I'm sure it made some recruit very happy...

If you're in the Sports Arena area tonight come check out the TriClub San Diego Monthly Beginner’s Meeting at B&L Bikes, we will be talking about race fundamentals answering any questions you might have regarding the sport.

I distinctly remember him beating up the W 60-65 winner and taking HER medal, though. This guy has NO shame!

Oops - didn' t mean drafting, I just meant that there were about 5 or 6 bikers spaced out in a line, and I felt like if I slowed down at all I would be passed! Two different times though I came up to two bikers side by side chatting! One nearly caused an accident as a car tried to pass, and another time one swung to the left without looking despite my LEFT! call. Whassup with that? Other wise it was super fun!

Buck (JAW IV) and I actually discussed looking for you, except I said I didn't see anyone who looked like Hong Kong Phooey. I was terribly disappointed. I really wanted to see Hong Kong Phooey. Doing a tri, even.
