This was my first Tri. I did ok, I felt as if I were ill prepared. I had a great time though. My time was 1:41 by my watch. JAW cruised past me on the run going back over the bridge.

As soon as I got in the water to swim out for the start, my goggles popped. Luckily they did not break, I was floating on my back, trying to swim to the start AND reassemble my goggles. Incorrectly I must add. I finally twisted and pulled. It seemed to do the trick. Then I did what the beginner coaches warned about...I lost my bike. I knew where it was, I thought. I spent about three minutes looking for my bike, hearing Steve and Dean tell me I was going to lose it. Argh!

The bike was good, second trantition, much better than the first, and the run. Run/walk/run. I walked more that I thought I would. But, YEAH I finished.

How did everyone else do??

I did ok overall but my swim was ridiculous. I was next to last in my wave (15) and wave 16 passed me in the water making me the next to last person to get onto my bike. It was horrible. I passed a lot of people on the bike and run though. I ended up with a 1:37. I'm guessing my swim was waaaaay over 20 minutes. I basically doggy paddled vertically the whole way. It was a huge accomplishment for me to go in the water at all since 5 years ago I wouldn't even go in a pool, but it would have been nice to actually swim. I definitely could have pushed a little harder from T1 on but I was so discouraged after that swim performance. After my initial crying reaction when it was over I realized that it wasn't a bad time and I should be happy that I even finished! I'm looking forward to the Subaru one!

You all did great yesterday! I was there cheering on husband and wish I had known who you all were so I could have yelled out your names. I don't think you could have asked for a more beautiful day and watching you all swim by as the sun came up was absolutely wonderful! The only person I saw that I "knew" was JAW. We parked behind his car on Saturday at the expo and I saw him getting ready to swim and coming in from the run Next, I'll be out there doing it with y'all! Congratulations to all of you!

my first tri too, i was really nervous about the swim...but the water was surprisingly warm, and the current was with us. I'm soo happy about doing this race. I felt like it was perfect for a first timer.

My overall time was 1:16, I wish I had pushed it harder in all three. I zig-zagged on the swim, the bike was over too quickly, and i was unsure where mile 3 was on the run...but now I know the course. Next time its on!

great job everyone!

4th place is incredible jaw!

Clydesdales (200+lbs)... I weigh in at 210lbs, the guy in front of me was at least 220 and about 6" taller. hah

I did however get 2nd for the 2007 Koz Series which is exciting. They guy who got 1st was actually in 7th yesterday. I think the only reason I made it, was because I did damn near every event this year as a Clydesdale.

For those of you who are not familiar with Series Points you can find details here: http://www.y-events.com/07kozpoints.htm

If you are a member of the TCSD, they have a separate series which gives points not only for racing, but volunteering as well. It make participating that much more fun and keeps me coming back for more.
lol

It sounds like you all did great! I'm so glad everyone had fun. I have not heard one negative thing about this race. Great job everyone!

The San Diego Triathlon series starts back up with the Spring Sprint next year, until then remember there are tons of running events through the winter. I'm pretty sure there's some cycling stuff as well, I'm a little less familiar with the world of cycling in itself. All the more reason to train in that direction.

If you really want to find another triathlon this year, there are many events in the desert cities such as Phoenix or Las Vegas. Their seasons are just beginning and it's a great excuse to take a trip.

Check out this great race report by Brian Long and if you get a chance, check out my thread on my upcoming race, the Bootcamp Challenge. This is coming up this weekend and it will be a blast!

I'm really glad you made it out Mixie. How was the run? I think the cutoff for female Clyde's (aka Athena) is 160lbs. I think the name "Athena" sounds kinda hot...

I made the same mistake in the Spring Sprint this year. I got on the scale right after the race and was like what!!! 208!!! what!

I could have won the series if it weren't for that. lol
Oh well....

JAW, hows it going...I met you at the registration. I'm Tim's friend and I also raced as a Clyde. My time was 1:27:47 which Im really happy about since my goal was 1:30 and my swim was really slow. I also missed my start because I didnt hear them announce wave 14. Anyway, it was an amazing experience for my first Tri. I am going to be doing Total Immersion and keep working on my swim. Im hoping to come in around 1:10 for next years MB Tri.

Also Jaw I joined the SD tri club...Ill say hi when i can make it to a meeting or event.

What a great day for the race, my wife, friends, and I all had a really good time. My time was 1:34:07 which I'm happy with considering I don't swim well at all. I was pretty nervous just making myself get in the water but it was worth it.

Now that I've faced my 'first tri' demons I can't wait to do more. Great job everyone!

I've seen it as early after a race as Monday and as late as Thursday. Just keep checking back and remember to refresh the page.

They'll be there before you know it...

I beat my goal of 1:30:00 so Im pretty happy with my results. Especially since I missed my start time because I didnt hear them announce wave 14. I finished 25th out of 31 Clydes so I have a lot of room for improvement...but I FINISHED!!!!

Swim: 1306 0:15:33
Bike: 996 0:42:19
Run: 1083 0:29:55
Total: 1122 1:27:47

Now if I can just get over my whole fear of putting my face in the water I should be ok. I had a great time and cant wait to demolish that time next year.
