I'm wondering if the fellas, or the ladies' male counterparts, out there feel that either DeSoto or TYR racing shorts run true to size or smaller/larger? I'm sort of on the border w/ XL - XXL and have no where local to try these on and am hoping to prevent return S&H costs? (of course in regular cycling shorts the XXL are sometimes too long but that's better than squeezing my oversized azz into XL's that run a bit 'lean' if you will -ha!)

Thanks for any info you can provide to this newbie!

I think the TYR run small. I usually wear XL or XXL men's and have found DeSoto and Zoot to have AWESOME fitting tri-shorts.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to check out Zoot too, and from what I've read it seems that DeSoto are well liked and fitted so I may just go w/ them? Thx!

I agree that DeSoto shorts are sized well.  I have a XL pair that I have worn for a while.  I also bought a pair of TYR XL's that seemed (when I first bought them a month or so ago) a little lean.  They seemed to have stretched or I lost a little more or something... They don't feel so lean now, but I still don't like them as much as the TYR.

Peace,

I found that my TYR shorts are also sized just a little small but not too bad. The legs are what I would consider a little small but the waist is big.

If mail order shorts have sizing issues, I can't wait to try and get a mail order wetsuit! Although, if you don't have a place to try-on Tri styled wetsuits, I'm guessing it's just a good idea to rent a brand you think you'd be interested in buying and then you'll get your chance at fit from that?

Thanks for all the feedback everyone!

Believe it or not I've had better luck with wetsuits through the internet than tri clothes.  The TYR top I bought was at least 1 size smaller than XL's I'm used to.  I also bought the DeSoto tri shorts with side pockets (forgot name), I bought them in XXL, fit more like a small XL or big L! I kept them for motivation! (and many times I can't be bothered returning stuff)

Good luck!
