Games of Acadiana
78F / 26C
Sunny
Total Time = 45m 14s
Overall Rank = 35/141
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 1/3
Pre-race routine:

Wake, coffee and bagels, shower, shave, drive to CajunDome. Parked at finish and rode bike to start, 3/4 miles away.
Event warmup:

Rode 4 miles on the bike just to get the blood going.
Swim
  • 03m 32s
  • 200 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

Not bad considering the lack of time I put in the pool this year. Only a few seconds slower than last year.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to swim correctly and practice.
Transition 1
  • 01m 10s
Comments:

Estimated time, couldn't have been much more than this.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. No hurry here, slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
Bike
  • 22m 1s
  • 8.25 miles
  • 22.48 mile/hr
Comments:

About a minute slower than last year, having to haul extra girth up those little hills. Still, not too bad.

What would you do differently?:

Be in better shape.
Transition 2
  • 00m 50s
Comments:

Time estimated again. This one went OK as well.

What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 17m 41s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Foot hurt from the start, still not bad considering I've run only once since June (RiverCities) and barely run at all this year.
Almost three minutes slower than last year.
What would you do differently?:

Train? Got to get over this PF.
Post race
Warm down:

Had some water and cookies, then walked back to the start, loaded up gear and rode bike back to finish and the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Injury which has kept me from running.

Event comments:

Good race, brings out a lot of first-timers. Lose points this year because they didn't have any jambalaya.

Third year in a row I won my AG, not many in it this year and one guy faster than me won the overall masters, so was taken out of the AG.

Hey John, You looked great on that Red Cervelo. I really expected you to be officiating at this event.

The run will come back, just give it chance.
