Just wanted to get a few places where can park for an OWS/bike/run. I am just doing sprints, so it doesnt have to be too long. The roads in and out of saguaro dont seem to be bike friendly, and there is no water where i have been bike/running(south mtn.) Just thought id ask to save alot of exploring. Thanks Guys. ~Clinton~

Canyon lake has a rather nice hill workout with very little traffic past the marina and up to the end of the pavement past Tortilla flat. First bridge makes a nice ows as well.

Yup, Canyon would have to be the best place to get to all 3 sports in the great outdoors. The only downside is the blind curves on the road and lack of shoulders. There aren't too many cars, but when they do come by there are a few bad spots to be caught.

The AZTri club meets there just after the first bridge every Thursday @ 5:30PM and Sunday mornings at 7 if you want a group to show you the safest routes.

I am a Saturday trainer myself. Occasionally the AzTri club does Saturday workouts at Canyon. I have been training for the Fountain to Mountain so I have been training at Saguaro (hard to do the bike portion but I am most worried about the trail run and the swim so I am training there for the next few weeks) but would be up for a Canyon lake OWS/Bike/Run sometime as well.

We, the East Side Cool Kids Tri Club, do an OWS/Run brick every Thursday night at 5:15 either at Butcher Jones Cove at Saguaro Lake or at Canyon lake. Then every Sunday morning we do a bike ride. Lately it has been either a flat ride doing the square of:Ellsworth, Pecos, Val Vista, Guadalupe back to Ellsworth. Or we do hills out at the Usery Pass loop.  You are welcome to join us anytime.  Just keep looking here in the Arizona forum for the ESCKTC events.

When the AZ Tri Club meets at Canyon Lake, they do about a 40 minute swim at the first bridge. When they're finished with that, they go for a 4-5 mile run.

Every other Thursday, the ESCKTC meets up with them, and the other Thursdays they go to Saguaro and do the same distances as at Canyon. Saguaro is a more difficult run because of the elevation climb. The water there isn't quite as nice as Canyon either, so even the swim can be a little harder.

Either place has it's advantages. The beach at Saguaro is nice, whereas the "beach" at Canyon is just plain...not nice. The water at Canyon is much cooler though and the run is flat.

So, to answer your question: You can do whatever length swim and run that you feel like, but we usually do a 30-40 minute swim followed by a 4-5 mile run.

Bah, Tanya posted while I was composing mine.
