Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:30 for 6am start. Had a yogurt, hard boiled egg and banana with a bottle of gatorade. Took the hotel shuttle to the start. Missed the corral cutoff so had to go in the with second wave. Normally not a big deal, but with the heat, that 10-15 minute delay was valuable relatively cool time lost.
Event warmup:

Walked from the shuttle drop off to the start - about a half mile total.

Comments:

I paced it well with the heat. Carried water just in case. Took two electrolyte capsules at the start, two at one hour, one at 1.5 hours, 1 at 2 hours, 2 more about an hour later. Took one GU at 40 minutes, another at 80 minutes, another at 2 hours. Considering the weather, I felt OK. iPod went dead after about 3 miles, but the race was interesting enough, Disney, lots of high school bands, and trying to not freak out about the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Sign up for a cool weather race!

Warm down:

Walked around a bit and met Kip and the kids; went to Disneyland and CA Adventures until 1. The walking around was actually helpful. Drank a LOT and took a nap when we got home around 3:30.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HEAT

Event comments:

Fun race, but the heat was brutal. Was hoping to run a sub 10 min/mile pace, but dismissed that from the beginning because of the weather.
