This may seem a little premature but I am training for the 2008 FL Ironman. It is an important goal for personnal reasons.

Does anyone know of a worthy 52 week training plan for an ironman distance? Right now I plan on training to a olympic distance taining plans followed by a 70.3 followed by an ironman.

Does this make since?

Training 52 weeks for an IM would be mentally tough. Most folks build their base and then do actual IM training 4-6 months.

I'm doing my first IM next July. I have a coach and he'll guide me so I get ready.

I just know when I do lots of races or train straight through without more than a weeks rest/recovery...I get mentally fried and need a break. I normally do a clump of races ending early June, take 2 weeks of down time/very little training and start again to build for my fall A race. First year I did it I hated it; next year I asked to have it put in my plan as I can now tell when I need more rest and I gladly take it.

My HIM is a month away  and I can tell I'll be ready for some down time afterwards as my attitude and excitement to get out there and train is down right now.

I believe there's one on trifuel that's 38 weeks, but I'm not sure if it's aimed at beginners or not.

I am a beginner but I put in about 120-150 miles on the bike, about 12-15 miles on the run and about 5kyds in the pool a week. I think I am on a decent start. I just want to make sure I do this right, without injury as much as possible.

Start builinding your runnning more.  Pick a half-marry or 2 to focus on for the next few months and train for those (keep biking and swim more too).  Then pick a summer half-iron and train for that.  When that's done, THEN think about training for IMFL.

Do you put in those distances each week or each month? I looked at your logs but couldn't tell.

Trifuel has a 36 week program that I used for my first IM Florida last year and it worked pretty well. I still had a 2-3 week span in there that I lost motivation. I would not start a "plan" yet just get out there and enjoy yourself and build a solid base for now. Good Luck!

I'm with JK on this one and would plan a series of events that will help you build for the IM.  A 52 week plan would be hard to follow.  I like this article on Crucible Fitness about off season training.

http://www.cruciblefitness.com/etips/LimiterSeason.htm

I would also read as many of their training articles.  I heard them talk at IMLP and should have paid more attention to what they had to say.

Yes, sage advice from JK but i'll admit to starting my training for IMLP 08 the day I registeredWink

Seriously, here's my plan:

Marine Corps Marathon 10/28/07 - building the run base - Note that's 8 months before and it gives me ample time to recover before :

Around Thanksgiving I start the 36 week program located here: http://opentri.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1

<...
Using that, my immediate foucs will be on:

a mid April Half Marry
a mid - May HIM (Harriman)

Then an IMLP taining camp in June.

So altho it's obviously on the radar a year in advance there are plenty of shorter term goals to keep me motivated.

I'm not sure if it lasts 52 weeks, but you can check out this article at BT to see how the different training plans on this site can be strung together.
