12 people are signed up for the race. I plan on going up Friday evening and staying at the Days Inn. Anyone else going up the day before?

thoughts on the race? I read some race reports and it seems to be a hard 10K with mile 5 being a real bugger. I did not get a feel for the bike course. If any one can give some thoughts on the bike course, it would be nice advanced info.

We're driving up the morning of.  By the time we would be able to leave on Friday we'd miss even more sleep than if we just leave Saturday morning.

I haven't done Tugaloo before, actually this will be my first tri.  But a couple weekends ago I went up there and ran the course and drove around the bike course.  I agree that mile 5 is tough.  It's mostly uphill the whole way and being at the end of a fairly hilly course makes it tougher.  But the harder part, at least on my legs, was that the road has a steep bank in many places to allow for drainage, I guess.  Driving around the bike course, it didn't look too bad.  Lots of rolling hillls, but nothing that looked terribly steep - just some long, gradual hills.

Looks like it will be a challenging one, but that just makes it all the more staisfying!

an email from the race director yesterday shows that the run course has changed this year.  The biggest change seems to be that it goes in the opposite direction, making the long hill happen at mile 2 instead of mile 5.  Then some other loops have been changed slightly.  I guess that's good, in that maybe my legs will still be somewhat fresh when the big hill comes!

Bike course is more challenging than most ... largely due to the rollers throughout.  There are some flat sections, but you will remember the long grinds more .

Thanks for the updates. I love the bike course. Looks like a road race to me! Interesting that the elevation on the run course seems to be flat. I will be very happy to tackle the "hill" on mile 2 instead of mile 5. Always fast to run than walk!

I am really looking forward to the race. Hope to see all of you.

My family and I are going up tomorrow. We decided to make a long wknd out of it and rent a cabin on the lake. The Chamber of Commerce is holding a free pasta dinner Friday night for racers and their families as you may already know. Unfortunately, we already have dinner plans so we won't be there. Good luck! :-)

Looks like it could be a wet one. I am going to show my rookie knowledge, but do they hold the race if it is raining? I hope they do unless there is dangerous conditions.

I used to love the bad conition road racing. You just need to get in the right frame of mind.

I'm still holding out for no rain.  Thunderstorms don't usually happen till the afternoon anyway.  Right?

The latest weather check that I saw was cloudy in the am and sun in the pm, meaning the rain was gone...

If in the event of lightning on any part of the lake, they will typically wait for about an hour or so to determine conditions.  If it is lightning on the lake at the time, then they will change it to a duathlon.  If there is lightning/t'storms over the course, they eventually cancel it.  Pray for just overcast, which will be awesome!

Mistletoe was converted into a duathlon due to thunderstorms on a remmote part of the lake (after a big storm at the race site).

Do you know where it is being held?  My wife is staying in ATL to take my daughter to some Sesame Street Live thingy.

Does anyone know when results will be posted online?  I was very unhappy with my results but I had an intestinal issue that started about 3/4 thru the bike and really killed my run.

Results are already posted on www.event-tech.com.

I was really pleased with my results.  I finished about 12 minutes faster than I was aiming for!

Thanks.  They are there.  I guess I figured they would be on the Gamultisports site.
