What city/state is it in? That's a funny name to give to a race.

Boca Grande - the local Optimist club puts it on - was voted best tri (sprint?) in US in 2000 or so - south of Tampa about 90 minutes - supposed to be very flat - I'm from KC and am attendig the Chiefs-Buc NFL game and thought i'd do a sprint before the game - I am trying to find a close but inexpensive hotel/park bench to cut expenses -

Water temp now is ~80 degrees. Pleasant for most, freezing to me!!! Air temp has been in the 80's to low 90's this week. Should still be nice for your race. There are lots of little hotels/motels along the beach down there, but that is a pretty pricey area.

thanks , i get overheated in 78 degree water, so i should be OK for the 440 yd swim- I did a short internet search for hotel/motel and your right they are a little pricey - just a budde and me so we are not too particular, I'm sure well find something reasonable

Darr: Closest city is Port Charlotte, we got hit pretty hard by hurricane Charley so there are no hotels here, you would be best served trying to find something in Sarasota or Venice.

This was what I was going to do as my first tri, but I've developed some achilies tendonitis and any extended running is out of the question for me right now.

But Boca is gorgeous
