Comments: This was a ride, not a race. We took our sweet time at the rest stops. The course had a few hills, but was fairly flat. I felt good almost the whole way. It was nice and overcast for at least the first half, then pleasantly sunny. The only bummer was the wind, which seemed stronger on the way back. We didn't see that many cyclists on the road, but a lot at the rest stops. Hmm... Richard, my DH, had an explosive flat 2.5 miles from the finish. That was a bummer, especially since he had forgotten to pack a tube. I finished without him and then went back with the car. We changed his tube and he finished the ride. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Although I suppose I could ride a little more competitively. Maybe if I train for a longer race I would... Post race
Warm down: Can you say Ben and Jerry's ice cream? Yum! What limited your ability to perform faster: More training of longer distances. (Longest training ride was 50 miles, and before that 35.) Event comments: A good fun relaxed ride. Only a few notable hills. Not a lot of activities, but good rest stops, good lunch, Ben and Jerry's when you finish, good vibe. I had cereal and canteloupe. Forgot to make tea. Adam met us at our house. Richard packed the car. I drove. It was way foggy. Started raining just when we were ready. The rain passed in 5 min and we took off. I was glad for my rain jacket.
None.
