OK, so I've seen the postings about race plans for next year.  Relentlessly scouring www.active.com, www.trifind.com, cool runnings, canuckrunner, etc., I have yet to see any CO triathlons, other than an off road one for 2005.  www.triduops.com and www.coloradomultisport.com have nixed their websites (and some races in 2004) with no known ETA for updates.

I'm presuming that this year's race will be done next year, approximately the same weekends, but even at that I can't find any news about them.  It's driving me crazy!  (OK, I'll put my soapbox away now...)

Are there any other comprehensive lists out there?

Tell me if you find one - I do much better at training when I have my goals all lined up, and right now I have nothing planned in the spring because I can't find a list of 2005 events! Argh....

Try and find the website for each particular race. I just signed up for one in May that is accepting entries via the website. There are links to many sites on Trifind.

Of all the races I intend upon entering next year, I'm only registered for one.  Most of the races are not even set up to accept registrations yet, which I think is kind of crazy.

Isn't there like a moratorium on triathlons in that area due to the death of a triathlete at a recent event? Seems like I remember some talk here about that... maybe that some counties weren't issuing permits?

All my planned events for the next six months ARE taking registrations.

Same thing happening in NC. No updates. There seems to be one company that handles about 50% of the races in our area. Their website hasn't been updated for awile - none of the races they handle seem to have their own unique website, everything is buried within the organizer's site. Only thing I know is that registration for all their races next year won't be available until Jan 1!!! You'd think they'd have their acts together.

For now, I'm just writing on a calender the date where I tentatively think its going to happen and crossing my fingers.

Joe,

I hear you. I have all my races planned but I haven't registered for anyone of them because I can't find a race schedule for Colorado for 2005. I'm also a little peeved that I competed in Fall Chill over a month ago and I still haven't received my USAT points. I just needed that last race to become a ranked triathlete. I want to say I'm ranked damn it and I can't until Fall Chill turns over my results to USAT. Ughhhh. I'm so impatient right now.

So my next season is looking a little crazy. I'm going to do an Olympic in Mexico (woo hoo) and maybe I can pick up some races in New Mexico or Arizona. Come on Colorado get with it.

There are two 'big' companies (triduops and coloradomultisport) that have both decided to do various 'reorganizations'.  That, the death of the triathlete in Larimer County, and that little pipsqueak that cheated COgirl, et al, at the Boulder Diva's race seem to have put the big kibosh on the whole triathlon scene for 2005...

Try the 5430 triathlon in boulder, it is usually the same time every year(july?). Haven;t done it but want to someday.

Yeah, I agree Joe. It is really annoying. I'm eager to plan out my next season, too. Has trifind.com updated other states?

I have forgotten his name already, but he actually was the race director for the Boulder Diva's race, the Dash & Dine series (5K races) and was at least the announcer for another tri in Boulder.  He screwed a caterer for $400, someone had their car (raffle prize) reposessed because he didn't pay for it, a LOT of racers lost their entry fees on the Boulder Diva's tri - then he has the nerve to say he's not a jerk, just not that smart.  Techinically, I say he's both.  But I think some of the fallout is because he had aligned with Colorado Multi Sport to help promote his race(s) and they are probably taking some heat about it.  I don't know for sure, but it seems plausible.  I think his picture is in Webster's next to WEASEL...
