Overall Rank = 114/255
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 11/24
Pre-race routine:

Klynne stayed overnight so we could leave early and drive the two hours to the lake. HAd some coffee and bannana bread on the drive up. Was really great to be able to drive up with K and chat. We got there way to early( as usual), so we waited in line for a bit to get the race packet. Set up the transition, hung out with our fellow CAT members. Was great to get to meet a fellow BT'er stumax, and wished I could have run into wurkit girl. Really struggled with the decision to wear a wetsuit or not. Finally decided to go ahead and wear it, and glad I did!!!
Event warmup:

Nothing other than hang out and wait. I was in the last wave.
Swim
  • 20m 12s
  • 820 yards
  • 02m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

This was a great swim for me only because I beat the fast girl in our tri club out of the water!!!!!!!! Started in the front of the pack but to the outside. Got a bit off course and volunteers had to tell me to keep to the right a few times. Drafted a few ladies a couple times. I would get on there feet then pass. I did freestyle the whole swim!!
What would you do differently?:

Really work on sighting a bit better.
Transition 1
  • 02m 8s
Comments:

Worked on pulling the wetsuit off as I was coming out of the water. Looked over while I was gettting the shoes on and noticed that I had beaten Connie(fast girl) out of the water!!!!! Pushed to get out of T1 with her, but she's a bit quicker.
What would you do differently?:

GET FASTER.
Bike
  • 41m 14s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 18.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Connie was just ahead of me coming out of T and I really tried to keep up for a bit. She can fly on the bike so I figured there was no way I could ride with her and finish the run. Slowed a bit and just kept my pace steady. Passed quite a few people on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

MAybe push the bike a bit harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

My shoes don't allow me to try and get them off before t so need to be a bit faster getting them off. Decided to run without socks and did fine.
What would you do differently?:

FASTER!!!!!
Run
  • 30m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt good coming off the bike and had no problems with the legs. Other than my quads hurting a bit from the 5 miles two days before the race. Saw everyone from the CAT club while I was on the way out to the turn around cheering them all on. Kind of depressing knowing that everyone else was going to be done before I was. Was surprised that I was actually passing people.Just after the turn around saw Adam running again and that inspired me to push a bit harder. I started coming down the hill towards the finihs and Susan,Josh, and Chris were there to cheer me on and help me push to the finish. Thanks GANG!
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push myself harder but I have a hard time knowing just how hard I can push and have enough for the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Met up with Klynne and Mindy and grabbed a burger and stew. Hung out at the club tent with everyonwe and did a bit of stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The biggest problem I have now is the knowledge of how hard I can push myself and still get the race done. Need to also work on the swim, but I think that will come with just getting in the pool more this winter.

Event comments:

This was a great race and perfect weather for being the beginning of OCT. I am so pleased with the progress I've made this year. I have moved from BOP to MOP. But a bit depressed that the season is over. Glad that we have a fantastic tri club that is so supportive and fun to be around.

Well done! What a great end to a great season for you! And now that you beat the "fast" girl out of the water, you will be known as the fast girl

Great job!

WAY TO BLOW UP THE COURSE!!! Wow, beating the fast girl out of the water, pulling under 10min/mi, and coming in top 50% of your age group? Watch out!

I am so proud of you.
