Event warmup:

Short run and even shorter swim warm up.
Swim
  • 41m 33s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 58s / 100 yards
Comments:

No wet suit, no swim training, lousy drafting all equals a pretty slow swim.
Transition 1
  • 02m 9s
Bike
  • 2h 56m 50s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Not a bad ride, all things considered. I was actually averaging 20 mph for the first 50 miles. The last 6 (I think it was actually 7) had some significant hills that slowed me down a lot. It was good seeing Carey (my wife) on the last hill. She was playing El Diablo and had a cape, horns, pitchfork, and had covered herself in red body paint. Apparently, she had a good time out there.

Power was only 152 watts for the ride.
Transition 2
  • 01m 49s
Run
  • 2h 34m 39s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 11m 48s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a disaster. No bike rides over 40 miles all summer and not a whole lot of run training makes this tough. I was pretty much relying on my base from IMAZ to get me through this.

Event comments:

Awesome race. I'll be at Lonestar and then back for this next year. Keith is awesome.

Good job toughing it out Dennis. Considering you participated the day before, you did well enough - I'd say your base must be pretty good! Your bike looked strong considering the layout of the course and that run, well, it was just brutal at times so don't dwell on it. Give Carey a great big "Thank You" for being the fiesty devil she was.

great job out there.. I'll see ya at Lonestar in the spring..

I didn't know whose wife that was dressed up but I was laughing pretty hard,  I thought that was a great place for "the devil" to be hanging out...I'm sure it must have put a big smile on your face once your realized who that was.

Short but sweet RR! I could take a few notes on how to do that myself! HA!

Sorry I missed seeing you out there! I didn't know your wife was the devil either.

Yea, my average up to mile 52ish was 18 mph... those huge hills killed my average and it ended up being 17 mph when it was said and done. Glad I wasn' the only one!

Congratulations on the HIM!
