Pre-race routine:

Got up early to help hubby set up for the neighborhood yard sal and then grabbed a bananna and a cup of coffee. Got the girls up. Called Mary to see if she was going to do the race. Klynne showed up and we went to pick Mary up.
Event warmup:

Got to the race and lucky for us we pre-registered. There were alot of people that needed to register and the line was really long. Made a quick bathroom stop then headed out for the girls to do there mile fun run.

Comments:

Started off with the girls running the 1 mile fun run with Jacob. Both girls did a fantastic job. Ashley finished in 8:12 and Abby did it in 8:24. They both haven't ran since the spring and I'm very proud of how they did. Then it was my turn to kick some butt. I really wanted to do better than my 5K in the spring. We started in the middle of the pack and I tried to keep my pace steady. Klynne took off like a bullet and was well ahead of me. By the time I got to the 1st mile I was extremely surprised to hear them say 9:03. That's the fastest mile I have ever done. I continued with that pace and by the time I got to mile 2 I was still doing well with 9:10. I was really pushing hard and when we got to the last small incline I met up with Klynne and passed her. There was another lady that was behind me the whole race and when we got really closed to the finish she almost got passed me and yelled "don't let me pass you!" I really turned it up and kept her right on my heels. Man that was the hardest finish I've ever done. Glad she did that because I was really starting to slow and the motivation really helped.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing but bring a watch to be able to really get an accurate time and splits.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and waited for Klynne and Mary to come across the finish. Then we went and grabbed a banana and bagel.

WooHoo! Great job You are a RUNNER!

And your girls did great too! Isn't it great how kids can just go out and run well without much training ?
