I live in Riverview (north east suburb in the Tampa Bay region) and would like to find a good bike and running shop (preferably close by). I would like to get an re-fitted on my bike and need to evaluate my running gait and buy another better shoes.

I work in Brandon, live in Land O Lakes.  I have found that University Bikes on Fletcher, near 275 to be good.  There are a few bike shops in Brandon, but the one I have been to was a mower shop too and I don't think I will be back.

I have had several good experiences with University and they have a decent selection of tri stuff.

I use The Running Center in north Tampa on Dale Mabry.  Experience runners.

Its a one-stop-shop for all your riding needs.

One person who was telling me about bike shops in Brandon told me about this really great SCHWINN store.

Running Shop:  Hit the Trails at FishHawk Park Square.  www.hitthetrails.com   They do gait analysis there. Steve is a great guy and a runner, just did Chicago.   He also heads up the running club.

bike shop: for maintenance I go to Bike Works.  There's also Power On Cycles at the corner of 60 and Turkey Creek Roads.  They sell mostly if not all recumbent bikes but have supplies, accessiories, etc for everyone.

For bike fittings I went to Hank at Chainwheel in Clearwater but he has moved to Florida Bicycle Sports in St Petersburg, matter of fact I am going there next week to get my shoes replaced.

There's a good Schwinn store behind the Dairy Queen on 60 if that's your thing.

and... a shameless plug for my local tri club- Tri Amigos!  see sig.....

Welcome to BT!!!

Running store in lakeland called Fit Nitche is excellent.  They will do a gait analysis and let you try all sorts of shoes. Bieks.  Univ is OK. Chainwheel drive in Clearwater is excellent.  Brandon Bike works is ok but more a roadie store.

Chainwheel and University are both great shops. I always go to FitNitch in Lakeland for my shoes. They give you tons of personal attention, have all the computers and video equipment to study your gait and arches, they really try to fit you in shoes that are perfect for you. Its a small shop that carries every good brand, but still gives you to top service possible.

If you ever get to Hyde Park off of Bayshore in Tampa be sure to visit Flying Fish Bikes on MacDill Ave. Great staff and Joel (a guy) knows tri bikes. The store use to be Dud Thames.
