I am sorry that I cannot relate to the addiction to liquid candy. I personally only drink water and iced tea (UNsweetened). I have noticed on item that I want out of my diet - High Fructose Corn Syrup. It is in EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

My yogurt, my juices (unless from concentrate) - everywhere I go I find the crap. I want it gone!

Great job on the weightloss and your fighting the good fight with sugar! You are doing wonderfully!

Congrats - you lost a lot of weight by just quitting soda. I' ve never been a soda addict, but i like sugar in my tea. And i gotta have the tea everyday.

One time i cut sugar out completely for 3 months. I used Stevia instead. I read every label and only allowed myself to consume 10g if it was in food. I was amazed how hard it was to by simple things like canned beans without 2-4g of sugar. I lost almost 20 lbs and the most amazing thing was how flat my stomach became.

I might have to do it again.

I love sweet tea too!!!  It has been much easier to cut that out than the Soda.

I have softened my diet this past week and had some sugar stuff but still minimal compared to what it would have been.  Still exersizing alot.

I was at 213lbs yesterday.  Next week I will be stricter again and hopefully will get to 210 in a a few weeks.

I have not been as strict as I have hoped the last couple of weeks, but

I hit 211 on Sat.  That made me feel good.

I was planning to have a 100 mile bike and 12 mile run week this week but the weather turned cold and nixed that plan.

I have a soda problem as well, and I've been wondering what would happen if I could cut it out. Right now I'm 5'10" 195 and I'm not really sure what would be an ideal weight for me. I was 145 when I was a competitive runner, but that was about 5 - 6 years ago. I'm very uncomfortable with my current weight (specifically my belly), and I hope it is possible to have a flat stomach again.

This thread has given me inspiration, so I'm going to allow myself an occasional soda or beer on weekends and see what kind of difference it will make.

Glad to be of motivation.

I have hit a bit of a wall lately here.  Still staying off the soda for the most part.  Probably averaging about 12oz of soda or coffee a day.  Not bad.

I weighed in at 210 on Sat after 50 mile ride, then I broke down and had some soda and pizza on Sat night.

I have struggled a little bit in Jan to be as strict as I had been before Christmas time.  I need to get back in the game 100%.

Riding below 50 is too cold for me.  I don't have much cold weather gear at all and it does not make alot of sense to buy any since the time is so short.

I think in reference to this week you quoted though that the lows were in the 30's and the highs were in the 60's.  I am at work the daylight hours.

Just thought I would give an update for all those who have contributed to this thread.

I have officially signed up for a triathlon (only done du's to this point) and a 10k.  10k is next month and the tri is in April.

On Sat, I weighed in at 208.   WOW, it really feals good.

Funny thing is that I have been becoming more and more aware of the fat that I still have.  I am not sure what my ideal weight will be but I know I need to get below 195 to get on the lowest cost insurance charts as I need to buy some more life insurance and want to get the best price I can since it will be for 20-25 years.

Cool, Pepsi is my weakness too.  I too get a headache.  The lack of caffiene is what causes it, so I have been having a coffee (taking a long time to develop a taste for it) in the morning to keep the headaches away and help me get going but I think the sugar and lack of carbination processes better.

Thought I would post an update on my progress.

I was 205 yesterday.  The 200 mark is getting ever closer.

Hoping to take off another 4-5 pound by April 12 which is my 1st tri of this year.
