i have been looking around where do they have the results for top finishers for age groups and clide's and the 50 slots that are designated for florida

any one stay for award cermonie

I heard they canceled the award ceremony. They don't have the searchable results up yet but you can look them up manually by going to the IMKS site, click on "results" and then at the top there is a link after the little disclaimer about the searchable results. Hit ctrl+F and a box should come up where you can type in your AG, then just count how many are before you. They're in order according to finishing time. Look back through the thread where Veganman posted the number of entrants per age group, as a percentage of the field that's how many slots will be available. For example, if 25-29AG had 10% of the field, they'll get 10% of the slots, so 5 slots. Who knows how they're going to hand them down if someone doesn't want them.

Here's the tricky part: sorting through all the people who were cut short on the run who have 14mph bike splits and 6:xx/mi run splits. They have me at a 5:24 pace but I only got halfway done and was really doing like 11:30s.

When you go to the results theres a prelimanary post shown in yellow that shows overall and by division. Click on either of these links too see the results. You don't have to fill the rest of the page.

If you haven't already found it, they list the clydes in the age group listings down almost to the bottom of the results.

You can add me to the list of those doing a 68.3.  It is amazing how much your perspective on the day can change in a couple of second.  One second I was pushing as hard as I could for the finish, pretty happy with my performance given the conditions, only to be told to stop.  I would have continued, DQ or not, but it looked like they had already started taking down markers and cones for the last couple of miles, and with my limited mental faculties at the time, there was no way I could have figured out the course.  Besides, I didn't want to cause a scene with my wife and kids standing there at the finish line.

Hearing about VeganMan does add some perspective on the day.  I hope you heal fast.

I hesitate to criticize an RD who has to make a tough decision to try to keep everyone safe, but I would love to hear an explanation of his thought process.

bvfrompc - 2008-06-15 1:52 PM I'm kind of Kansas hater right now....... : ) Other than being unfullfilled, the day was going to be tough but just doable. Great fun course and up until they shuttled me off to the chute after finishing Iroman Kansas 63.5, I was trying to stay in the moment and enjoying the experience Looking at the results so far I have come to a realization, I'm not very good at this, but I pushed myself and consider myself 45% of an Ironman today. What was up with the three minute wave starts? Every three minutes a new wave of fast swimmers would be crawling all over me. Then I realized if I swam just 50 or so yards away from the bouys, I could swim all by lonesome. Probably didn't help my time..... All in all, a great experience, now the question is what next, this was all I have thought about for 6 months........ Thank you all for the help, advice, and inspiraton the last 5 months.

Unfullfilled.  That really seems to sum up my thoughts at the moment.  I can't believe I am considering this, but I think the only thing to do is to do another one.  I am seriously considering doing the 5430 Long Course in mid-August.  Believe it or not, despite the fact that the course is set in Boulder, Colorado, it would have less elevation gain than the Kansas bike course.

Anyone else thinking of doing another one?  I think we need a BT do-over and the 5430 people have a national reputation for putting on a great race.

I had a chat with my coach this evening. Looks like I'm headed up to Wisconsin for the Spirit of Racine to go the full distance.

The race in boulder sounds awesome.

I'll be in Boulder in August. I signed up 2 weeks ago and am glad I did.  I had a good day on Sunday and am looking to improve in August.  Will be excited to meet up with anyone who's there.

No awards ceremony. You can find the preliminary results via the website. The results are short and don't be upset if that is a last you see of results. It is going to be a nightmare to sort it all out. I would imagine there won't be much more posted, as far as results go!

Great time meeting all the BTers. You wouldn't believe how many people mentioned the outfit. Something must be said for the site. There were definitely lurkers doing the race. I heard "Go getum'. What's you screenname" numerous times!

Veganman update:

Talked to Ryan this morning, seems to be in good spirits and hopes to leave KU Med this afternoon. The RR just called his wife saying they figured out what they did with his bike (the weather thing probably messed that up). He say's he really isn't that sore and did some walking around this morning. He also said that a doctor doing IMKS stopped riding to start a tournequet (spelling ?) and made sure the bleeding had stopped before he started racing again. Ryan was happy his Garmin 305 survived the crash, his top speed was 40 something!

For some stupid reason Harvest Moon came into mind about 10 last night.........we'll see.

More hills/wind and cooler temps or an easier course but much hotter?

Glad to see that he's in good spirits! And big kudos to the doc who stopped to help him out. Hopefully he'll check back in with us when he's back at home.

So much for Kansas being flat.
People assume the same thing of Nebraska, but anywhere along the river valley is going to be continuous rolling hills.
Should be fun!

did any one ever come up with a final total climb?

The 5430 1/2 distance is much easier than the Kansas 1/2. I averaged over 23mph on the 5430 compaired to just at 20.5 in Kansas. The run is also flatter than Kansas, but there is NO shade at all.

Just wanted to give everybody a view from a spectator/voluteer.

First: Everybody who toed the line and started deserves a serious "great job". You guys/gals showed the guts you have by putting in your time training and putting your fears aside and jumping in that lake. While most of the people in this country were content to either sleep in or sit on their butts all day, you guys were layig it all out on the line and pushing your bodies to the limit.

Second: I just wanted to say what a great sport triathlon is. I don't know of another sport where the professionals and the "average Joes/Janes" compete side by side. Their are few other sports that let the spectators get so close to the action. To be hanging outside of the corral just a few feet from the professionals of the sport and to give them props was great. To talk with a person that I had seen on television was really cool (I always thought Sam McGlone was taller).

I did get to see everyone enter and exit the swim which was really cool. We took a break and then got to see the lead bikes coming in. The first problem I saw was no volunteers directing bikes down toward the transition area. The lead male almost turned and went down toward the marina before we yelled and got him back going down the hill. The pros looked smoking fast on the run, so fast that after the first lap the lead male almost passed the girl that was leading him on the mountain bike.

Then I got a call from my wife that they didn't have enough volunteers to man the aid station near our camper. Jeremy (jeremy_424) stayed to photograph the finish while I beat feet up to the aid station with our daughters. It was a total blast helping with the aid station. We manned the last aid station in the second campground (Aprox. mile 5/11). It was a humbling experience to watch all of the runners coming through. My children were in awe of the amount of power gels that were able to give away. I wish there was more we could have done since some of the runners were suffering pretty bad. It was awe inspiring to see David Roszell come through with his one leg. I was also thankful for all the thanks that people gave us. We were doing the easy job.

To wind up this long winded post. Congrats. to those that started. Ataboys to those that finished, and I'm sorry to those that were pulled from the course because of weather. All of you have inspired me to train more and train harder to some day toe the line and compete shoulder to shoulder with you.

Thanks for coming out there, Jeff. We appreciate you, your family, as well as all the other volunteers and spectators for being there for us. One day we will return the favor [as long as we're not racing!]

Oh no. I unpacked the stinky stuff as soon as I got home (laundry is taken on Tuesday) but started putting away race gear last night. And no medal.

You can have 1/6th of mine, I don't need it, nor earned it.
