I just bought a spinervals dvd and he talks about being on big ring in front and 15 on back. I know the big ring obviously, but what does he mean by 15 on the back? Since I have a triathlon bike, 10 rings on back, does this mean the 5th ring on the back while in big ring on front?

The "15" is the rear cog with 15 teeth. If you have a 12-23 or 12-25 it would be the 4th cog up. If an 11-23 it would be the 5th cog up.

"15" means the cog in the back with 15 teeth. Where it is on your cassette depends on what cassette you have. If you have a 12-25 cassette, it will be the fourth smallest cog, if you have an 11-23 it will be the fifth smallest.

1 more question. My bike has 12-23 cassette. I have 10 cogs in the back. Can someone explain this to me? Which cogs am I missing? Shouldn't there be 12 cogs?

Sorry for the newbie questions.

You have a 10 speed cassette. The smallest has 12 teeth, the largest has 23.
