Subject: Reverse Tri - Flower Mound - 12/2
I am doing the reverse tri in Flower Mound on December 2nd. This is my second triathlon...and first USAT sanctioned event. I am nervous. Can anyone give me any advice on a reverse event? Also, has anyone done this bike and/or run course....and would give me any pointers?

Thank you!

Is this the tri4life race?  If so didn't they change the format to make it a regular tri?  I did the race last january and it was by far my worst bike time but it was really cold that day and I really did not train.  From what I remember it was really winding course with some hills.

Good luck.

I learn something new everyday, I thought they changed them all.  Anyways, I actually only did the du in January but watch some of the end.  If I remember correctly and the race is at the same place as january the pool was very shallow, people actually walked in the pool to pass since the lanes were narrow.  Plus it was really cold and people jumped in the pool in tights, etc.

Good advice so far.

I live nearby and train on these routes.  The run is long, closer to 3.4miles, slightly uphill going out but downhill on the way back.  The bike is fast and flat about 16miles.  There are about 2 small hills that get your heartrate up.

I find the reverse format easier as you don't have to run after biking (no brick).

It should be warm on Sunday (65), although chance of showers.

I've done two of the reverse tris.  Aaron's tips are good.  The biggest thing that you won't be expecting is that, coming off the bike, you will feel like a brick when you jump in the water.  You're arms will feel heavy and very slow for a while.  Just swim through it.  It's probably not a transition you've practiced much.

I did this reverse race back in May.  It was my first reverse and first pool triathlon.   Aaron's tip to not go all out on the run is great advice.  Since the run is first, many of the racers went out really hard like it was a just a road running race.  I remember starting really fast with everyone else and then fading some by the end of the run.  I wish I would've gone a little easier at the start as that might have made for a faster bike split for me.

Above all, HAVE FUN and enjoy the race!  Be sure to write a race report!
