I was rooting for Colt (hawaii pride and all), but Tebow is amazing.  I can't believe he's only a Sophomore!

First, Congrats to Tim. He had a helluva season, despite that ugly jump pass. And if you take one thing from this post, let this  be it. He won, congratulations.

Now...IMHO, Tebow's good, but there are better. I just think many of the better candidates weren't considered. For instance....The Heisman is untouchable by a defensive player, an offensive lineman, or anyone other than a running back or QB or the occasional wide receiver.  Many of the heisman voters (40%) submitted their ballots before the last week of the season, meaning they didn't see critical conference championship games. And if you're not on a team in the top 10, forget it.  I'm just not down with the process, or the criteria.  It's a footnote, an afterword, irrelevant anymore.  But congrats to him; his resume and accomplishments seem to have struck the right chord with the voters.

I dunno which is worse...the Heisman, Gold Gloves in Baseball, or Dancing with the stars, or the BCS. They all seem to, err, suffer from the same malaise.

Uh Rick... bit of a downer eh?

Tebow seems like a good guy!

Re-read the first two lines of the post...I'm excited for him, and respect everything he's done this year, and am more than happy for him and the Gators. Outstanding stuff. And he IS a good guy. I just don't understand the award anymore. And that's not just a this year thing...I just happen to have posted this year. Nothing against tim, at all.

did charles woodson win it while he was at michigan??? I thought he did, but this same discussion went on with some friends today [ needing to be a QB or RB off a top team] to win it.  I was sure woodson did win, but the majority voted me off the island saying that he was only nominated.

Yea he did, but it was as much his PR/KR skills that won him the competition as anything else.

I think McFadden was a better player than Tebow, but Tebow put up obscene numbers against quality competition and deserves the award. So congrats to him, it will be interesting to see how next year pans out(I haven't seen how many starters Florida is losing this year).

I like Running QBs (running like a running back not running scared).

I thought he went to a HS in Jacksonville (actually it was south of Jax)  But found this on wikopedia.

"The Nease Panthers football team were 4A FHSAA State Champions in 2005, as they beat the Armwood Hawks 44-37, led by Tim Tebow, the 73rd Heisman Trophy winner (however, Tebow did not attend Nease as he was homeschooled). "      So he got to play sports but didn't have to attend classes at the school.

Jake Locker for Heisman, probably not next year but Junior and Senior year.

I think he's a good kid - I'm glad he has such a grasp of team, commitment, loyalty and family. Now comes the most difficult part of winning the Heisman - the rest of your career! I hope he can stay fit and do a good job in the NFL, if he chooses to play professionally (which he probably will). McFadden would have been a nice winner, too.

2 bits, 4 bits, 6 bits a dollar...all for the GATORS stand up and Holler!

Congrats to TEBOW

holllerrrrrrrrrrr!!  woooooooooooo!!  GATOR NATION BABY!!

Let's recap Tebow's greatness, shall we??   More rushing touchdowns than the greatest runnings backs EVER....(Walker, Jackson, Smith), oh and McFadden.  No QB has ever thrown for MORE than 20 AND rushed for more than 20 in a single season.  He had the second highest QB rating in the country.  He completed over 68% of his passes, all while playing in the toughest conference and a strength of schedule in the top 15 of the country.  All the while holding a 3.76 GPA.   And did I mention that he's precious as  can be?? I hope my daughter can find an awesome fella like that to marry some day!!

With a freshman defense, on the heels of a national championship, it's not so bad.  And....if I am not mistaken, the Heisman is an individual award, not a team award.

There are a lot of Heisman winners with non perfect records.

Way to go Tebow! Go GATORS!

The trophy vote is opinion, and nothing else.

Obviously, but how else would you pick an MVP? Have them arm wrestle?
