Subject: Timex Ironman Heart Rate Monitor problem
I use a timex ironman HR monitor and find that while running my heart rate monitor jumps from 140 range to 240 range and then back down on a regular basis. Has anyone else had this problem and if so do you have a solution? I called timex and they told me to replace the chest strap battery which I did but I still have the problem.

Thanks

My Timex HRH doesn't like to be around power lines.  I'll get wacky readings, both high and low, at times.

Is it still under warrantee?  Timex is usually pretty good at replacing stuff if you send it back to them.

Mine does it in the cold when it doesn't really have a good connection to the chest.  Lick it, and keep it on a bit before you go out in the cold.  When it's cold/windy and I'm just starting out I'll often have the problem.  It's annoying, but otherwise the monitor has been great for me.

Thanks for your comments. My unit even has problems when I am on a treadmill inside so I don't think it is the temperature. Since the unit is 2 years old and no longer in warranty I will have to get another one.

This problem comes up every 3 months or so - seems that Timex amde a very popular product!

Make sure you properly LUBE the chest piece - water BEFORE you go outside, rather than licking. I have found the more water the better. Also make sure that the battery in the chest strap is in tip top shape.
