So, I ran with El Gerrouj today.  He's exceptionally inquisitive and had alot of questions for both myself and my friend (the three of us ran together).  Most of it, though, had to do with school, the weather, or comparisons to his home country and the US.  As he put it, he doesn't like the cold, but likes the sun.  (hehe)

Anyways, our run started off pretty slow, maybe 7min pace, which wasn't too bad, heading off towards Amazon trail.  Once we were there, though, he certainly picked up the pace, hitting at one point, sub 6's, circling the path 3 times and then heading back to campus.  If he and my friend hadn't stopped at a light, I probably wouldn't have caught up.  Once I did catch up, though, I managed to stay with them for the rest of the run back which involved some hills and a little speed work.  So, for all you out there that wonder if the King still has it... the answer is a resounding yes.

The best part is that he wants to make this a standard thing: every monday and wed at 6:30!  It's like getting a 2 free training runs...  Needless to say, I'm excited.  Now, I just have to figure out a way to get some pictures without appearing to be a tool.

 Me and my Rabbit

More photos in my album...

Todays workout wasn't all that extraordinary.  However, it was my time just before the workout in the locker room that was outstanding.

So, I'm changing and this guy next to me, a black guy, is obviously having issues with his combination.  (I'll clarify why I specified his race in a second).  So, after a moment of frustration, he goes and get some other guy who shows him how to operate the lock, but is speaking in french (which took me a moment to deduce).

Anyways, so something was nagging at me, but I wasn't sure what it was.  While I was leaving, I bumped in to a partner from the run club and ended up not leaving the locker room still standing next to these two guys.  After a few minutes, I looked at my friend and told him that I thought I knew him, paused and then stated that I thought he was El G.  My buddy looked at me kinda grinned and told me to ask, right, so I turn to the black gentlemen (while the other guy was around the corner) and asked him in french if that was the case.  [The reason I figured he was was because there were reports of El Gerrouj on campus with a translator and since he's moroccan, I figured he translator might be from the same area...].  10 Minutes later, I'm talking with 9 time gold medalist Hicham El Gerrouj and being invited on a jog out at Pre's trail with him sometime!  I couldn't believe it!  It's like having Lance Armstrong invite you out on a casual bike ride or Nolan

asking if you wanna throw a couple pitches.

Rabbited Kats' physical for her, but she was a bit disappointed that she didn't break 10.  C'est la vie.  It was a bit amusing in that her run was more like a warm up for me.  I guess I have to keep it in perspective in that there are others out there that see my hard workouts as a warm up.  Not everyone runs to race!  I almost laughed when one of the kids asked me if I was racing them the whole time.

Slow day after the workout yesterday.  Knee is in pain, but after some serious icing, it felt alot better.  Even with the workout tomorrow, I think this is on the slide.

Kat asked me to rabbit her 1.5mile for her.  She's looking to hit 9:45, but honestly, I'm not seeing it happening since her last run was a month ago at that was a 10:30 or so.  Improvements don't appear overnight.
