Can I really do a marathon?

Our last day of biking in Alaska. It was a hilly day with 4 long steady hills in low gears. But the reward was 6 miles of absolutely no pedaling downhill at the perfect speed. No braking was required either as the road was perfectly smooth. There was even a moose reward at the bottom! The vistas were lovely, even if they were obscured some by the wildfire haze.

After hiking, we rode 30 very flat and slightly downhill miles fast. Only 4 of us rode the full 30. Others took the 20 option as we got a late start today. It was lovely to just easy pedal and coast.

Long run from the Tangle River Inn on the Denali Highway. Ran 4 miles out over rolling hills and up one giant one and then back and then ran 1.5 miles out to the end of the pavement and bridge and back. HRM stopped working for most of the return.

Today was a hilly ride. We rode the paved miles of the Danali highway, and it was 7 miles of climbing, a short downhill, a 1.5mile uphill, and 8 miles of downhill! David even rode it back to the start as well for bonus miles!

Our second day in Alaska was biking on the Danali highway, an upaved road. It was most dirt with some gravel in some areas, and heavy gravel in others. Fortunately, there wasn't too much elevation change, and we just stayed out of our seats. I did fall at 0mph once, though, as I was forced off to the side while a slow camper passed. I ran out of speed and didn't clip out in time. Ouch! The last 3 miles of this ride were stunning, and lunch was the reward by the Gulkana river.

1st run in Alaska. Ran from the Millinium Hotel, on the path and roads that surround the lake with the sea planes. It was nice to run quickly again and have my HR stay in the right zone! <1:00 above, and those could be erratic readings as the HRM was reading a little off.

Biked our first day in Alaska up to the Danali National Park. Beautiful vistas including Mt. McKinley, and it was wonderful to ride with David. We were on the shoulder of a highway, but traffic was light by Texas standards. I didn't wear a HR monitor for any of these rides as they were casual.

Ran around the golf course in Houston with David. It was challening to keep my HR in the zone. We got yelled at a couple of times while we were running, so that didn't help either! That made me anxious and run a little faster. My recorded pace showed I practically crawled around this run, but it didn't feel that painfully slow.
