So I'm heading to Atlanta for a Keller-Williams convention for work tomorrow morning. Our company has 3 conventions this coming week that we need to have a presence at, so we're spread pretty thin. One of our Admin Assistants asked my boss if I could go (verbally) to Atlanta, and got the go ahead as long as I was ok with it. Long story short, we made the plans, booked flights, hotels etc... and I reminded (Jenny) my boss today. Of course now she's bent out of shape because she wasn't in the loop. She sent me an email surprised that I was going and then sent another email to me, our Admin Assistant and our Sales Director wanting to be "part of the planning" process for things like this in the future. Granted, she wasn't involved in any of the planning but there was no need for her to be and she had already said she was ok with it and on top of that, she doesn't even have to "manage" me. I just don't get it. It's as if I'm part of her personal fiefdom and someone else is taking me away from that. I could easily be a department unto myself and just report to one of our execs. I suspect there's something else going on though. As far as I can tell, Jenny is not the typical power hungry middle-management kind of person. On the bright side of things, this is the first office "politics" issue I've had to deal with in almost a year of working here, so in the scheme of things, I guess can't complain.... too late ;)
No workout at all tonight. Spent the evening looking for my passport so we could go to Mexico. After hours of searching, finally found it hidden away in a seldom used pocket of a backpack....
