Good 2 k and the rest slow.

Was asked a question that I do not have the answer for.

Dad, why are you not doing Ironman this year?

After thinking about it I said I would tell her later.

I ran today. Thought about the question. Thought about my answer.

Could I tell her that, that I don't want to start cause the task is too daunting?

Could I tell her that, I just don't feel like it anymore, cause I don't find it fun..(how could riding a bike not be fun Dad?)

Then it occurred to me, Maybe setting a time limit on my race is what is making it not fun. WHEN did riding a bike become not fun? WHEN did jumping around in a lake with your friends become not fun? Maybe, just Maybe, I might be wrong!

So I thought about this on my run.

Would I be a very good roll model to my Children if I didn't try? If I didn't make up a goal list and try to strive for it?

How would they perceive it? That it ok to quit? Not on my watch baby!!!

My answer tonight will be this.

Madison, Your Dad, is not, not doing the Ironman.

Here are my goals for you to read.

IRONMAN 2012 Goals:

FINISH STRONG  AND WITH A SMILE!

You read that right.

No time goals.

FINISH STRONG AND WITH A SMILE!

I forgot in the grand scheme of things that Ironman is tough. That just finishing is the goal that people should have.

Training for it is fun! Get out there and get training!

Thanks Mady, you helped me out today!
