morning OWS at compo beach
i need to put some thoughts down before i forget them, the race report will take a day or two, but i want to reflect and remind myself some things before Patriot. I was disappointed with my result, but there are some interesting tidbits comparing this to Patriot last year, and maybe the race was better than i am thinking only a couple days after when i hurt.
The courses are not really comparable, but looking at raw numbers, I set a HIM swim PR and was about 4 mins faster than Patriot, Patriot bike has 1400 ft of climbing total Rev3 has 4300, almost 3x as much, i went 23 mins slower at Rev3, Runs was 1000ft climbing at Rev3, Patriot might be 200ft, all things considered, i was 6 mins slower running at Rev3, including the fact that at mile 11.7 or so, i quit and started walking. I Ran the whole Patriot course except for Aid stations, at Rev3 i did a fair amount of walking, so when i am running, i am running well, the runs were pretty close after a much more difficult bike. I am in better shape this year, Rev3 was a tough call as first race of the year, that course will leave mental scars. I need to move on from it and heal up, get some nice easy work for the next week and half, and put in an honest effort at Patriot
