December 31
Took a night off due to an upset stomach and a comfy couch.
Thanks for the inspires, please keep them coming! I will try to blog every day regardless of no activity. Even if I need to post a fun story not related to working out.
December 30
today I took the leap - I decided to check out a gym. There are two within warm-up running distance from my house but this being my first night in a gym in probably over a year I decided to drive there. My intentions were to speak with a staff member about a membership, hopefully get a free day to workout, and sign up for a membership. In reality I walked in the guest entrance, passed the desk where nobody was working, and passed the one other guy in the gym. Ran on the treadmill for about 30 minutes, walked around to see the place, and left. Secret Gym!!!
I kept it about 12min/mile pace average. Triaya pointed out my wisdom for not risking injury - well I suffered a lost month a few years back during my half iron training because I thought a long run (10mi) a day after a long bike ride (60~mi) was a good idea. I was hobbling home but my knee clicked for about a month and a half and hurt for a month of that. My uncle told me to completely stop working out my lower body at that intensity until I felt like I had been healed for a week.
I'm loving the rush i'm getting from this immersion. I like that the mentor of this group is actually responding to my posts. I like reading everyone elses posts. Maybe it's just the runner's high that I haven't felt for years though.

tonight I was reminded what muscle memory was thanks to my heavy metal play list. Felt stronger tonight than the last 2 nights combined. Only did 30m on the traioner and I feel like i could do 30 more. I'll refrain to save myself from some sort of injury only i'd get.
Was especially tought to get on the trainer tonight but it was worth it. Feeling great.
power song was Blues Traveler - Hook. Put it in the highest gear and stand through the part where he sings super fast - double points if you sing along - triple if you don't miss any words.

I'm not counting my 8 minute warm up because I was pretty much just moving my legs against no resist. My butt is getting accustomed to being in the saddle again. The first 10min were quite painful but after that I started to feel a little more comfortable. I sweated a little less than yesterday because I actually aimed a fan at me for this workout. Power song was Tv on the radio - wolf like me.
Today was really hard to eat well - it was on my mind all day to make good choices but I completely lost control at dinner and ate until I couldn't eat any more (out with my parents, inlaws, and my wife/son... almost never happens).
Breakfast: 3 slices of thin turkey - club soda
lunch: medium-small ish bag of lay's potato chips + diet coke + handful of skittles
snack: handful of skittles (really whatever 25 cents will get me)
dinner: a crap load of pizza.
