Supposed to do 3.5 easy today, but I hooked up with another jogger along the way and went a little further.
Hard to keep the pace down... I guess I must be getting excited. 1st lap was a little quick: 9:08... 2nd was WAY too quick: 8:46. Then I ran into my friend and she slowed me down. Beautiful. 9:47 and 9:40 for the last two. Felt good the entire time. Warm and sunny and windy.

Race pace run today... running between 8:35 and 8:45, then with a walk break at every 10. Felt comfortable for the most part. Legs got a little tired around mile 7, but I gooed and they felt really good for the last couple.
Ready or not, here I come.
Spits:
1) 8:35 - 159bpm (Oops. Out too hard!)
2) 8:57 - 140 (perfect)
3) 9:03 - 140
4) 9:06 - 146
5) 9:05 - 148
6) 8:35 - 151 (no walk break in this split)
7) 9:02 - 149
8) 9:03 - 148
9) 8:54 - 153
10) 8:35 - 156 (Pushed a little bit down the stretch)

So that's it, basically. A few more relatively easy wos, then mary next Sunday.

Did I mention "yikes"?

Steady 6 run today.
Pretty much ran this one exactly like I hope to run marathon day, except without the 60 second walk breaks.
1) 9:31 - 151bpm
2) 9:07 - 133
3) 9:02 - 129
4) 9:09 - 133
5) 8:31 - 138 (oops! a little fast!)
6) 8:49 - 140

Marathon day, I'm thinking go out easy for the first 4 or 5... like 9,9:15s or so... then step it up to 8:45 pace for the next 15. Then try to just hold on for dear life!

Fartlek workout today. Heavy crosswind again, with the brunt of it hammering me on the way back.
Calves were tight to start, but my groin felt suprisingly good today .
Splits:
1) 8:58 - 141bpm (warmup)
2) 8:22 - 143bpm
3) 8:40 - 142
4) 8:34 - 151
5) 8:45 - 153
6) 8:44 - 153

Pretty tough run again today. Legs were still tired from Monday night's run, but not too bad.

Run
  • 2h 21m 31s
  • 14.50 miles
  • 09m 45s /Mi

Well, that was kind of a brutal run. Didn't start until 10:30 pm so I'm kind of hoping my completely dead legs were a result of the lateness of the run, not the feebleness of my gambs. But boy, they're tired tonight. I think this run was actually quite a bit tougher than last week's 20. That doesn't make too much sense, does it? Then again, neither does my blessed training plan. I may be the only marathoner in history who's actually going to *add* mileage during his taper.
Anyways... splits:
1) 9:48 143bpm
2) 10:19 134bpm
3) 10:20 140
4) 10:18 129
5) 7:02 (?) 132
6) 9:30 134
7) 9:35 136bpm
8) 9:17 140
9) 10:07 131
10) 10:23 134
11) 10:08 140
12) 10:05 138
13) 9:57 140
14) 9:48 135
14.5) 4:48 140

Wow, are my legs sore today! WAY more sore than after 20. That danged run last night really laid a beating on me.
