VEG-atha-MOM!

May 3

ARRRGGHHH! Was sick all day until about 5pm..arranged to go swim at 8:30 PM - circumstances caused me to miss this time and now I've done no exercise today. The plan says not to reschedule it in. In this case, I think that may be wise.

Takin' it easy with my mother's husband for an evening ride.

Today's schedule:

6:30 - wake, get hubbs and kid off to school w/lunches, etc. pack a lil' somethin' for myself, pack up library books, bathing suit, normal person clothes, bike clothes, check on baby chicks, feed guinea pigs, make beds, etc.

9:30 - run about 3.5

10:30 - pack up and leave as close to this time as possible to get to N'Ton 35 min away to swim.

11:15 - get in the pool

12:00 - go pick up daughter from school

12:45 - library (don't forget tri books for reading)

2:30 - drop of daughter with mother

3:00 - meet with sponsor until 4

4:15 - bike with Thomas

5:45 - dinner

7:30 - clean guinea pig cage, put Rose to bed, do laundry (or else!), check on sweet little chicks - no meetings tonight so easy evening. Ahhhh :D  oops - Grocery LIst!

Update #1: Run went well! I feel like total crap but am just deciding to push through it based on the anecdotes of others - I guess you're supposed to feel run down, achyy, nauseous ...so I'm right on track ;) Decided to do a slow warm up to a fartlek: thrilled based on how I feel (and regardless of how I feel as well!!)

Mile 1: 11:28

Mile 2: 10:06

Mile 3: 9:19

.63 walk up hill: 11:47

Update #2: Oh brother - I tried to get in 30 min for swimming but the chicks needed to be cleaned, I had to get gas...all in all, I travelled THIRTY FIVE MINUTES had to lock up my bike at the far-away Y, etc. to swim for 14 minutes! UGH! However, a more successful swim could not have been had. I did a 500 in less than 8 minutes and then I did and Individual Medley (200). So fun!

I played with my daughter in between -wrestling, giggling - so fun! And then went for a bike ride with my mother's husband. Shorter and slower than I'd thought but maybe just right since I had ridden my bike until midnight last night! Now I'm finishing up my phone calls, got my girl to bed, cleaned the guinea pig cage, am doing laundry and the grocery list is done. Hoping to fit in a swim and a run tomorrow but this may not work out since my daughter is not feeling great again. I know I'll get a run workout in (and a very hard one at that) since track practice is tomorrow evening.

Trainer. Holy. Smokes. Started at 3:00, got a call to pick up baby chicks at 3:45, didn't get to pick back up until 10:30...so yes, I was biking until nearly midnight with the interruptions from my loving family. Le sigh.

April 30

Daughter is sick with a cold and I'm not doing well either. I'll shuffle a bit and call this a rest day. Argh. Tomorrow I'm all over this ten miles and a swim, gosh darn it! Also, we will be getting baby chicks! So I need to plan on a drive to go pick them up :)

Added new water bottle holder (now I have 2), lubed the chain and tried nuun (again). It seemed to be thirst-quenching and ok and all (though maybe I should get a different flavor - the grape reminds me of the agony of races past lol) but I had to pee wicked after and I lost a pound on the bike somehow. I will have to look into this peeing thing - maybe I consumed too much (almost a whole bottle over an hour) - but then again I LOST 16 oz. Hmmmm...

Going to fit in one more hour of bike tomorrow morning to sort of make up for time NOT in the pool, etc. I don't think it will be too detrimental to my rest day if I do it in the morning and then put my bike away (also mentally) and begin readiness for next week.

Also, I'm psyched after looking at last year's results. If I have a good day and nothing goes horribly wrong, I really have a good shot at placing in Athena. Last year's 1st place had 54 min swim (easy to beat) 3:02 (18.4 mph)bike (not impossible to beat) and a 2:10 run (very tough but not impossible to beat!) So that is officially my "A" plan now.  Her official time was 6:13:09. I would love to do that. Finish smiling.

My "B" plan might be something like: Less than 40 swim, Less than 3:30 (16 mph) bike, Less than 2:23 run. Finish smiling.

My "C" plan would be: Finish the race, smiling.

3 mile run, 30 minutes, 17 minute power walk. Recovery

OH. GOD. GI issues this morning, ran with my group (cramps! :/ ) Ate Burger King (small fries, chicken strips - 5 - ) because I had a coupon...BAD IDEA. Gross!!! AND my 1 hour bike immediately following felt like a 3 hour ride. Sometimes I don't plan perfectly (who does?!) or my health or hunger get the best of me...as long as I learn from it, it was a mistake worth making.

I'm so excited for next weekend's triathlon!!!!!

The plan is to ride the other hour tomorrow...my swim time has not been happening b/c of my shoulder issue...I'm going to try her out ASAP...most likely on Monday.
