IT when I got to work, my hips are bothering me post swim.

Big volume week on tap and I need to stay on top of the training as this is the 1st of a 4 week build before tapering for the Oct 5th Oly.

We have a new family member, "Squeegee", rescued her after she was dropped of at the vets office by a semi-foster family that was caring for here outside before the Tropical Storm came last week.  She's a bit skittish around the kids & dog (who cares less) but comes out at night with my wife and I.  Appears to be already fixed and the vets office gave her all her shots.

Catch up day at work.

Signed my son up for Little League baseball, he's so excited to play baseball for the first time with his friends.  He'll be on a friends dads team who is a nice guy.  Looking forward to going to some BB games.

I will be reviewing my last 4 weeks of training to see how the detailed progress has been.  So far the volumes have been good but I need to look at the details.

August 22

Well it's over now for most of us here in Melbourne, Fay's now kicking ass elsewhere.  A satellite weather station 1 mile west from my house received a total of 28 inches of rain since it all began on Tuesday.  I'm fatigued and still somewhat stressed out.  I brought my running gear to see if I can go for an easy run later.  But first I need to go to the chiropractor later today, my hip and neck are hurting.

The family is gaining a new member today, we're rescuing a 2-3 year old female calico cat that's at the vet's office right now, it was abandoned awhile back and had been fostered by a family that owns a cleaning business, they named it 'Squeegee', I think we're keeping the name.  It was  already fixed and appears to have a good personality.  My daughter is so excited and promises to be the primary caretaker of it.

The bad news is that our 10.5 YO Aussie 'Simon' has lost another 2 lbs in the past 2 weeks.  We went to see an internal medicine vet and they did an ultra-sound and more blood work to see if they could find anything.  Right now nothing specific is showing up but 6 lbs lost since Jan and he's eating more than enough calories to support his weight + some is not a good sign.  We are crossing our fingers it's treatable.

August 21

25+ inches of rain since Tuesday in our neighborhood.  Yesterday we had a serious episode of flooding near my house with our neighbors having water intrusion.  Then about 1 pm the sewer system backed up and I was lucky enough to have been told to open the sewer trap outside in the yard to release the pressure in the system.  It removed all the sewer water from our tubs & shower just in time, not soon enough though for some of our neighbors who had sewer water flooding, yuck!  Overall we were one of the lucky ones, plenty of homes within 1-2 miles from our house are underwater.
