Rest day.... spent the morning getting service done on the Mini, stopped at REI on the way home and picked up some bike maintenance stuff, drove UP the hill that promises to be a bitch on the March 31st ride and came on home.  Still Spring Break so I said screw the diet and have been munching on cookie dough!  Mmmmmm.... now off for some reading time...  new Running and Triathlete magazines, and a good library book!

Beautiful early morning spring ride.... overcast, but still nice. Really muggy though, my bar tape and brake levers felt wet! Everything was so green, tons of spring flowers out... just a nice morning to be out!

Met Tammy at the pool, Connie cancelled :(. First swim in 2 weeks, but didn't feel horrible. Water was WARM today though. I had another set of 800 to do when they started shifting lanes and there was this Nazi chick lifeguard who yelled at me when I rested my elbow on the lane line... I was ready to ditch it, so did my cool down and we left. Went out for lunch and a movie, Act of Valor, very good and intense! We missed Connie a LOT...

SUCK-tastic run... ugh. turned into an exercise in sweating and running on tired legs. Wanted to go for 6, it was all I could do to get this done. Allowed myself to walk one block in each of the last 4 miles, and as soon as it beeped 5 miles, I walked the .2 miles home. There's gotta be light at the end of the tunnel that legs will adapt to both running AND biking, right??! HR success though, and we'll call this one a FAT BURNING run, yeah, that's it!

I had wanted to get a bike ride in late in the afternoon, but I had a wonderful day with Kati (daughter), and that just seemed more important!  We did some shopping, went out to lunch with Reade's girl, Kylie, went to a movie, more shopping, to the grocery store and then picked up Kane before I dropped them off at home.  Great Spring Break activities!

Tammy Tucker came up to ride with me today, yea for riding with a friend!! Not crazy about average speed, but we kept moving along pretty well. Had lots of rural roads where we could ride side by side and talk, so I'm sure we weren't hammering then! Really felt the wind when it was in our faces, not so much when it was a tailwind. Best part of the ride was the free range cows completely standing across the road and staring at us. Thankfully they were pretty skittish and took off like a stampede (eventually) so we could get by. A few dog incidents too...

Beautiful Spring morning for a run! Started out overcast, but then the sun came out and it cleared up, just beautiful. Very muggy but not too warm. Nice easy paced long run. Did a double 4 mile loop, stopped at home for a quick break to potty/Gu/water, then took off for the second loop. Didn't want to sit too long and change my mind about finishing!

Just wanted to get a short one in, it was too nice NOT to go out! Sure did feel that wind from the south though. Just a couple of snafus... was about 2.5 miles from home, approaching the last good hill before hitting the neighborhood and I hear a train whistle and see the train sitting on the tracks close to the crossing but not moving... a few cars and trucks go through the crossing... I swear to God this train A-hole waits till I am about 20 feet from crossing before he hits the trigger to make the barriers come down, WTF?? Did a quick left and rode hard to get to the NEXT crossing before he made it there... room to spare! But then an uphill right into the headwind. #2 was about a mile from home, hit an intersection with a pick up truck coming from my left and I could NOT unclip!! It was go down or go in front of him, so I went down and then the A-hole turned anyways!! WTF #2??? About 5 cars drove by, and finally after I got up (left calf totally cramped up while I was on the ground, pretty tricky to untangle myself and stand up!), a different pick up truck stopped and asked if I was okay... grrrr. Hoping for a better ride tomorrow with Tammy Tucker!!

March 11

First day of Spring Break and I spent the day doing some long overdue cleaning.... mainly my workout closet... put a bunch of tech clothes that are too big or I never wear into a bag for Goodwill, chucked out tons of stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time and basically got it organized, put up some more hooks (while hubby was at work, he freaks out if he hears me putting holes in the walls, what he doesn't know won't hurt him!!!)  Getting the laundry done and contemplating a short run since the rain has finally cleared out and the sun is out!  Oh, and went out for lunch too, all in all not a bad first day!  About to change out my bar tape on my bike, believe it or not, I'm going back to basic black... can't stand seeing it dirty all the time!!  Got some double gel Bontrager stuff, should be nice and gushy....

Race is postponed till next Saturday due to 100% coverage of rain today...  a bit disappointed since I feel really fresh, AND it's cool today, AND it's supposed to be in the 60's next weekend for the lows, AND there are 900 people registered for the race on a pretty small paved trail.  It would have been nice to have over half not show up!  I still hope to get a run in if there's a break in the rain, or it's not coming down too hard... calling for rain through tomorrow, then we'll hit the 80's on Monday, woot!!

It rained almost all day long, steady cold rain, temps never got past about 45... I didn't go out.... so unintended rest day, sigh.
