June 4

So I guess today is the first official day of summer vacation and I couldn't sleep past 6 a.m.!  I have my Remicade treatment this morning, and will probably end up taking today as a rest day.  My left calf is super sore... as soon as I finished the race yesterday it was hurting, I don't know how I didn't feel it on the run!  Might go out for an easy bike though if I don't have the druggy feeling when I'm done, or may take a nap!  I need to make my list of "Things to get done this summer", which will consist of some easy things and some yuk things.  Looks like my parents are coming to visit but they don't have dates yet, and then there is the big Tri Waco weekend to get ready for.  Also time to get back on the healthy eating bandwagon and get down to race weight for Waco!!  No excuses!!  And keeping busy, keeps me from snacking all day because I'm home and have easy access to the fridge.

Great race!!  Loved it, loved meeting Louise, what a sweetie she is... and she BEAT me, dang it!!!  Not by much, but she DID beat me on the bike and the run... I still got her on the swim!  I guess it shouldn't matter that I'm 20 years older than she is, ha ha!!

Rest day!  Driving down later this morning for packet pick up and to rack the bike and meet up with Louise!  I'm excited to finally meet her!!  I got a great swim wave... 3rd wave (each has 100 people) but wave 1 is the the elites and there are only 7 of them.  LOVE being in the first few waves, makes the bike course so much easier!!!  I'm excited about racing, just hoping to have a good run, since this one is on grass/dirt for most of it.  Only the final 1/4 mile or so is on pavement, and there is one BIG hill to run up. 

It's been a great day!  Kati and I drove down to Austin after a nice healthy lunch out, and I met up with Louise!  Now I know what she looks like without a swim cap and goggles, ha ha!!  We got our bikes racked and we are READY for tomorrow!!  I drove the bike course, and glad I did, I didn't quite remember ALL the hills and the big one at the end, surely it didn't used to be THAT big!!  Hoping for low wind and cool temps tomorrow.  Ended our day by going to Ikea for coffee and cake, you know, had to do some carb loading!  Now to get my transition bag ready, and hope that I can still find my bike tomorrow... there were already TONS of bikes in transition, and I got a nice spot right near the bike in/out.  Excited!!!!

I could definitely tell I hadn't been on the bike in awhile! Took almost till the end of my ride to feel warmed up. Last 5 miles were into the wind, it sucked. Was going to do a brick, but it is just so hot and with a race this weekend and a run on the plan for tomorrow morning, decided not to push it. I was pleasantly surprised at my speed, didn't expect to see over 17! I am REALLY hoping for low to NO wind on Sunday morning!!! On a good note, today was the last full day of school!! Tomorrow is THE last day and the kids will be gone as of 1:00!! Whoo hooooo!!! Time to pack up the classroom and get the hell out of dodge for the summer... 6 hour day on Friday, we can come in as early as 6 a.m.

After spending 6 hours in full sun for Field Day at school today, I am TIRED!  Kati came out to help me, and she must be even more tired being preggo and all.  At least we were working the water slide in the afternoon and were getting wet, so that helped...  so an afternoon bike ride in more sun, yeah, it's not gonna happen today, but it's GOT to happen tomorrow!
