Got out there to get a few miles in before more rain hit, and ran to Kati's house for coffee. Now headed our for a healthy lunch and movie! Took this one easy, watching the HR. Walked a block in mile 3 to bring it down, but by the end it was up in the 160's and I said "F" it and finished it.

Good ride... for once the wind was not a factor. Felt it here and there, but didn't feel like it was holding me back. I felt really strong on the hills today, whoo hoo! Took my usual route and lo and behold, got to the first big hill and BAM, new chip seal (aka loose gravel), DAMN! I'm glad I was going UP the hill, it would have SUCKED to hit that crap going 20 mph downhill! Had to ride up on the bullhorns, nice and easy watching for piles of gravel. Hopefully in a week or two they'll sweep the rest of the loose stuff off. Forgot the HR strap AND my road ID, I must be getting old...

Brick! Quick change in the hallway, threw on the HR strap and out the door. This time I felt really tight across the middle of my back, a hard place to stretch out! Walked a couple of times, but finally felt good after about .6 miles.

New time for me to swim, and it's only for an hour. Got in the water 7 minutes late so had to cut it short. Not happy about that, but it is what it is. I will be sure to be on time next time!! Hubby swam with me for a bit, that was kind of weird, ha ha!

Almost didn't run this morning since the calf is still very tender and sore, but guess what... don't feel it at ALL on the run. I feel it when I really push down on my heel, so luckily since I'm a midfoot striker, no pain! Pushed it a bit today since I had such a suck run on Sunday. I think my body is getting too used to that easy pace, time to spark it up a bit. It was warm, but there was a nice breeze. Stopped at Kati's house for some coffee and some KarTrashians...

Whew, left Kati's and ran home, knowing it was just over a mile, pushed it... could have run even harder, but in the heat this was good enough!! Think I got a burst of energy from the cup and half of coffee I had over there too!!

Great race!! Loved it, loved meeting Louise, what a sweetie she is... and she BEAT me, dang it!!! Not by much, but she DID beat me on the bike and the run... I still got her on the swim! I guess it shouldn't matter that I'm 20 years older than she is, ha ha!!

Rest day! Driving down later this morning for packet pick up and to rack the bike and meet up with Louise! I'm excited to finally meet her!! I got a great swim wave... 3rd wave (each has 100 people) but wave 1 is the the elites and there are only 7 of them. LOVE being in the first few waves, makes the bike course so much easier!!! I'm excited about racing, just hoping to have a good run, since this one is on grass/dirt for most of it. Only the final 1/4 mile or so is on pavement, and there is one BIG hill to run up.
It's been a great day! Kati and I drove down to Austin after a nice healthy lunch out, and I met up with Louise! Now I know what she looks like without a swim cap and goggles, ha ha!! We got our bikes racked and we are READY for tomorrow!! I drove the bike course, and glad I did, I didn't quite remember ALL the hills and the big one at the end, surely it didn't used to be THAT big!! Hoping for low wind and cool temps tomorrow. Ended our day by going to Ikea for coffee and cake, you know, had to do some carb loading! Now to get my transition bag ready, and hope that I can still find my bike tomorrow... there were already TONS of bikes in transition, and I got a nice spot right near the bike in/out. Excited!!!!
