Just a short one, still 2 miles longer than the plan called for. The wind was significant, got blown from the side a couple of times, and had some headwind. Had a great tailwind which helped carry me up a long uphill, that was sweet!

Sunday - July 21

I'm afraid there's nuthin' here today.... My grandson's 5th birthday party was at the Splashpad, hubby cooked hot dogs, the kids ran through the sprinklers, short and sweet but too darned hot to head out by the time it was done.  Hope to get in 3 short ones tomorrow, taper week leading up to TriWaco, my fave!!

HOT 2 TROT 5K race, 2nd place AG!

Ran the whole thing, I knew the HR was high but it was a race, it should be, right? Legs felt good, breathing was in check, slowed it down a little so I wouldn't have to walk. This race starts with a hill and ends with a hill, and just kept chugging up that last one knowing the finish line was just around the corner. Good race and not a bad pace for where I am right now... not sure what the 1st place time was, didn't look. I'm happy with 2nd!

Same route I rode with Tammy a couple of weeks ago, this time with Hope who was happy to send me ahead, so I was able to ride my pace, and wait for her at the turns, and there were a lot of turns. Such a pretty ride!! Same exact pace as with Tammy! I was sitting at 16.8 average for awhile, but I really felt myself slowing down the last 5 miles or so, I was glad to get off the bike!!

Super muggy, but not unbearable, guess maybe I've acclimated! Had some issues, right calf was a bit sore and left shin was muttering something about shin splint pain, but got through it and finished it up strong. Still struggling up the hills. Gotta work on not walking now!

Good ride, legs were definitely tired by the time I got home! I did this ride 100% in the big chain ring!!! Thought I might have to go down to the small one a couple of times, but I gutted it out.... new goal is to get avg pace for a training ride over 17 mph!
