Nice long ride with my tri friends Tammy and Hope. We'd done this route before, there's an out an back section and a big loop with the now infamous Stringtown Road that has some gorgeous hills, both up and down. We hit quite a bit of wind on the way out, so we decided to take the loop part backwards from how we did it last time, thinking the wind would help us with the hills on the way back, which worked pretty well. Beautiful morning for a ride, not too hot, and the breeze felt good when it wasn't slowing us down or trying to blow us across the road! A little disappointed with the speed, but there WAS wind and there WERE hills, and we slowed down quite a few times waiting for Hope to catch up. I really love doing these longer rides, we've discovered some really pretty rides!

So hubby and I are going on vacation starting on Saturday... 2 day drive to Florida, a day and a half visiting each set of parents and then 3 days in Orlando in a super groovy hotel!  We have tickets to Blue Man Group, can't wait!  We're thinking of Epcot one day, and not sure about the other days, and then the 2 day drive home.  We're getting a rental car to save wear and tear on ours, plus hopefully get decent gas mileage.  We get a free rental using our American Express points.  We are both looking forward to getting away!  I'll be taking running stuff and my swim suit and goggles, but don't know how much actual training I'll get done.  Once we get back, it's just a few more days till I go back to school, ARGHHH!!!  A week of teacher "fun" and then school starts with students on Aug. 26th.  That will be my grandson's first day of kindergarten, he's getting to be such a big boy!  In any case, I'm trying to pack in the training this week as well as having my next skin check/gouging on Thursday, and fingers crossed I come through it with only the gouging on no skin punches/melanoma crap!!

Whoo hoo!!! FINALLY averaged over 17 on a training ride!!!! I had planned on bricking 2 miles on this, but my tummy is feeling off, that last cup of coffee did not sit well on the ride, plus it's freakin' HOT, should have gotten out there earlier!! I had hoped to take 2 rest days before Sunday's race, but I think I'll make up the 2 miler tomorrow morning, nice and easy, and maybe an easy OWS too... I'm feeling beastly!!!!
