Whew, this ride beasted me! Rode with my 2 good friends, Tammy Tucker and Lastazar and felt so bad that I was so damned slow!! First 20 miles weren't too bad, last 15 were horrible, coasted a lot, just kept pedaling as if I were out on a nice Sunday ride, couldn't WAIT for it to be over! Had some cramping going on the last 10 miles or so but was able to keep them at bay. Nice morning, not too hot, there was some breeze and it was noticeable when it was a headwind, but luckily it was a tailwind as we were finishing it up. I am spent! I am actually amazed at the pace since the last 15-20 seemed to be 8-12 mph every time I looked down!

Friday - August 30

Last day of the first week of school!!  It's actually been a pretty good week so far!  Older kids are already very talkative, but other than that not seeing any major behavior problems and most classes have been awesome!

Scheduled rest day, although I was going to get a swim in.  Didn't sleep well, hubby went out to a boys' night out for the start of college football or something and got home later than he said he would, so I was tossing and turning till I knew he was home safe.  He NEVER goes out, so this was a rare occurrence.  I'm babysitting the grandsons tonight, daughter has a date!  And looking like I'm doing a long bike ride tomorrow and hoping the morning temps make a HUGE difference from the last ride I did this week....

Intervals! 5 x 1/4 mile with 1/4 mile recovery. Pace on the splits were 9:18, 9:18, 9:30, 9:49, 10:13. Yeah, I was spent by the last one! Felt good to be doing these again, they are hard, but I feel like I've accomplished something when I'm done!

This was rough! Went out on an empty stomach and I haven't eaten much today, so between that and the heat and not riding for 2 weeks, this pretty much sucked as my pace shows. BUT.... I DID get out there, I made sure NOT to sit down at the computer and made myself change and put on sunscreen and just kept going till I got out the door. Almost gave it up when my bike fell over in the kitchen and half my water bottle spilled all over the floor. For once I welcomed the wind, it felt good! To top it off, about 1/2 mile from home I almost got hit by a car!!! Like within 5 feet... luckily the lady saw me in time and I was able to swerve around her. I'm sure she thought I was at fault, but I'm pretty sure I had the right of way (unmarked intersection, ie no stop signs, and I was coming from her right) AND I was wearing my See Me Wear jersey and my blinding yellow helmet! My route was supposed to be about 18 miles, but I decided since it was pretty much sucking, not to risk any heat type injuries and cut it short.

Third day of school and the exhaustion caught up to me, couldn't get out of bed at 4 a.m.  Reset the alarm to 5:30.  Hopefully I can get something in this afternoon but it's supposed to be near 100, ugh.

Had to do a short one since I had to be to school by 7 a.m. for morning duty, first day back with kids!!

The PLAN was to go for a bike ride afterschool... the reality is I sat down at the computer and I think I've morphed into the chair, T.I.R.E.D.!  Really feeling voice strain after talking all day and I brought home work I need to do before tomorrow (seating charts).  Think I'm gonna put on my jammies and plant myself on the couch.  Thankfully hubby made a casserole and all I have to do is preheat the oven and shove it in there for 30....
