Les Mills RPM class

What is the deal with this weather.  I was just getting use to running in shorts again and it drops to 30 degrees this morning.  In protest of Mother Nature, I skipped my 3 mile run this morning before class.  Yes, it's a lame excuse.  Sealed

Happy easter!!!!

Ran with my old Sunday running group this morning. I haven't ran with them in over a year. It was good to see them after all this time. The routes they run haven't changed. Legs were tight this morning but warmed up after a couple miles.

Ran with the Saturday crew today. Lane, Peter, Lance, and Saad. Lance took off and ran sub 7's right away. Saad, lane, and I were hitting around a 7:10 pace for the first 5. At the turnaround point, we caught Lance but Saad and Lane decided to run sub 7's. I was fine with my current 7:10 pace so I finished up with Lance. The first 5 miles out I ran at 35:44 (about 2 mins faster than last week) and the 5 miles back at 35:52 which was about 8 seconds slower than last week. We finished on the track for our timed 2 miles. I ran about 10 seconds per mile faster per mile this week vs last week. Mile 11 was a 6:55 and mile 12 was a 6:46. Better effort than last week.

After my 12 mile run, I went and got my Starbucks and went to volunteer at the Purdue Boilermaker spring triathlon.  The Tri-N-Run team was manning the water station on the run.  It was a lot of fun cheering on all the runners.  It made me want to be out there with them but I had to volunteer for at least one race.  Got it over with early.  Travis took 3rd overall and had a really good race.  Many members of the team did really well.  We had a strong showing in the race and volunteering.

After the race, I went home to pick up my 10 year old for her soccer game.  They won 2-0.  Its crazy being her coach but still fun.  She doesn't like when I yell at her.  She had a really nice assist in the game.  A perfect pass that set up our main scorer.

Its the week of slacking.  No workout today

Run #1

  • 4.00 miles

My watch flaked out on me again this morning so the running time is a guess. I just wanted to get a few warm up miles on these old legs before hitting the hills. I thought about a tempo run but the quad thought otherwise.

Run #2

I was just getting back from my 4 mile run when I saw the Tri-N-Run group starting their first hill repeat. I jumped in after I got my spare watch out of my truck. I got in 6 hill repeats today. I average between a 2:07 and a 2:11 per 1/4 mile hill repeat. I took about the same amount of rest (jogging downhill) before each repeat.

I was happy with my effort but unhappy with my times. I need to really get these under 2 mins. I just have to learn patience.

Time to get a new watch or at least a new battery in my watch.  I got my Ironman Timex at Christmas and it's already flaking out on me.  This is my third Ironman watch.  I love them but this one hasn't been very good.  It flaked out on me again this morning so my first run is a guess.  I met up with the Running group to do hills and grabbed my spare watch out of my truck before doing my hill repeats.
