First Half Marathon!

Wow! What a day! These are unofficial times of course. I was so overwhelmed at the end that I cried the last hundred yards as I blew through the finish line. It was hot, (although we did receive a bit of a break from the sun from some early morning low-lying clouds), and very hilly! Not prepared for that but worked it out. Did good with fluids and nutrition. With the exception of a few strides at some of the later aid stations I did not walk at all. I have some soreness and I am sure I will feel it later even more. I guess the most important thing is I WANT TO DO MORE!

Got to meet fellow BT'er kvesey (Karen) it was cool, we had lunch the day before and ran into each other later after the race. A super person with lots of experience! I love meeting BT people!

Hoping to get a walk in later and maybe some stretching. I have a serious day at work today so we'll see what happens.

So... I am now registered for the New Orleans Rock-N-Roll Marathon... OMG what was I thinking! A full 26.2, it's not until the end of February, so I'll have time for a fall training break before getting into a new round of work-outs for the big race in Feb. I am a glutton for punishment!

OWS

Regular group OWS. My goal is to get closer to simulating race conditions; for today my plan was to get to the buoy and do the turn around without stopping the entire way. I did it; never stopped and stayed in freestyle all the way. Slow, but making progress!

My run was hot and humid, geeze, and I sweat like a pig, this is what it is supposed to be like for the half on Saturday. I bet I'll be visiting all the drink stations! OWS this evening.

Yesterday was a rest day... even if I hadn't planned it, it would have become one as I was so busy at work! Watched Running to the Sun, about the Badwater 135. My lord those folks are nuts, but at the same time, what an amazing accomplishment. I can't even imagine running 135 miles, most at over 100*F... and that guy who had all his toenails removed so he wouldn't get blisters and such, yikes! It was a very good documentary and I highly recommend it.

Off for a run! (a short one)

This is taper week. Not sure what's on tap for tomorrow, it's going to be a busy day at work. Wednesday I will do a 3 mile run and our regualr OWS in the evening. Thursday, not sure, maybe a good walk. Friday I will do little if any at all. I am excited about my race but want to make sure I stay healthy this week.

Longer Local Hood Run

Wasn't sure I would even get two miles at first, but once I loosened up it turned out to be a great run. I love exploring my town and on such a beautiful Sunday morning it was just perfect!
