CSH Saturday ride


First open water swim today.  DH played safety kayaker for me.  We went to Fearington Point and used the tiny beach there.  Lake Jordan was listed at 55 degrees (per the daily report from the Army Corps).  I swam out the "no wake" buoy and back, went back on shore and did that a second time.  The second time I got a bit off course.  I was happy that the wet suit didn't bother me at all.  I was unhappy that I felt out of breath.  I can do this in the pool so it must be mental.  What was happening is I'd feel out of breath and when I spotted that bit of extra time out of the water make my brain say, "this is better."  Then I didn't want to put my face back in.  Instead I wanted to rest.  DH offered to go with me a few more times before Beaverdam. 

I can do this!  I know I can!

I feel pretty disappointed. I've been taking swim lessons since early December and I have seen no improvement in speed. Endurance is up a whole lot and apparently my form is considerably better but the number just aren't coming down. I have accepted that I may be looking at a 45 minute swim at Beaverdam but it's still pretty discouraging.
