I think that it was 18. Didn't I just do a spot forward? I finished the set and Sorry Charlie! My watch said I had done 18 and not 20. Quick, do another 50 meters!

Brisk morning -- it was 50 when I left the house in shorts and a long-sleeved T. I was pleased with the pace and the strides went well. Looking forward to getting my heart rate back to normal.

Today's mission: Ride 90 min (easy) then run 2.5 hours (z2). This was the ride easy part. Out on 1010 was with a tailwind. Wheeeeee! Coming back from Old Stage Road was more like work. ;-)

While I was running, I kept on thinking, "less wind and more sun please!" I don't normally change if I am doing a brick but I wanted a cycling jersey and arm warmers for my ride. I changed to a short sleeved T for the run. The first 10 miles went better than the last bit but overall it was good.

My new shoes are finally starting to feel like they are mine.

Yikes!  20 hours and 16 minutes for training this week, no wonder I've been hungry!

Old Lystra-Lower River Road with a Shearon Harris loop thrown in for good measure.

Overall, this was a good ride. I enjoyed it but I was glad to get out of the wind when I got home.

1870 climbing feet on the MapMyRide scale. This was a solo ride unless you count the wind as a companion.

It was 53 when I left the house. I wore tri shorts and a bike jersey with arm warmers. Decided to add a vest. Bad plan. By 30 minutes into the ride I was warm. By 60 minutes into the ride the vest was in my back pocket. I carried that darn vest for 5 hours!

The ride went well. I was disappointed with the speed. I think that the training is catching up to me and I was tired going into it. Add the wind and, well... To be honest the wind started to really bother me the last hour or hour and a half of the ride and I was ready to get out of the wind. It was gusting to 20 and didn't seem to come from a consistent direction. How can Old 1 S in Moncure and Christian Chapel Church both have a bad headwind?

What did I eat on this ride? Fig newton (200), Clif Bar (240), Uncrustable (210), Clif Bar (240), Honey Stinger Waffle (160) for 1050 calories.

Short run to crack the 100 mile mark for September.

Emma and I are running one mile tonight.  I am at 99.5 running miles for September.  Clearly I need to run a little bit more this month!  I was watching my cycling miles and not paying attention to the monthly total for running.  Wink



I hope that this forecast for tomorrow is overstating the wind...  With a six hour ride on the tap, I'd appreciate it if the only 39 mph gusts are in the form of a tailwind.





I had some weird spikes in my heart rate last night.  Since Tuesday's run had completely useless heart rate information, I contacted Garmin about the situation.  I gave them links to the data in Garmin Connect.  Inquiry KMM22951110I15977L0KM with them.  I'll be interested to see what they have to say.
