The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that the Sport2Sport pool is 25 yards, not 25 meters.  Two different people have told me meters though.  I need to measure it.

Thursday - March 29

Well... This was scheduled as a swim lesson. Lesson time came. No instructor. I was not yet in the water because we usually talk before the in-the-pool portion of the lesson begins. I decide to go ahead and warm up. No instructor. I decide to do some drills. No instructor. I swim 1000 and head to the locker room.

It turns out that her alarm was set to PM and not AM. Oops! We'll try again next Thursday.

I confirmed with S2S that the pool is 25m (not yards). This is considerably faster than the 25:30s that I swam 1000 in last week. Either saline is really really really my friend (quite possible) or it's really yards (also possible). I may bring my measuring wheel next week to satisfy my curiousity.

My regular 90 minute route. Today two 10 minute intervals (z4) were through in with 5 minutes rest between. Beautiful day. Much better ride than I had on Sunday.

I was held up by first responders on Apex BBQ near Scotts Mill. I hope everyone is OK. It looked like it may have involved one of those huge (5+ feet wide) concrete pipes.

 New Hill

Since I did a sort of review of the pool at the Elizabethan in Manteo a few weeks ago, I thought that I'd do a short write up about the Sport2Sport pool.  I have been there only for private swim lessons.

The Sport2Sport pool is located adjacent to O2 Fitness in Cary and is very close to Inside-Out's Cary location.  The pool is open to the public.

The stats:  5 lanes, 25 meters.  $5/visit or 5 visits for $20 or monthly pass. If you purchase an 1 or 5 day pass you check in at the front desk to get your card punched.  If you purchase a monthly membership you sign-in at the table in the pool hallway.  

The good:  Saline.  Very clean.

The bad: Ventilation

The locker situation is a little bit unusual.  There is the O2 locker room but S2S folks are not supposed to use it.  The there are four changing rooms with lockers in the pool hallway for Sport2Sport guests.  You would need to provide your own lock for the lockers.

The have a schedule posted on their website (it's a PDF file) but during the week the open swim schedule is basically5:30 am to 4 pm.  Then they have lessons from 4-8 and go back to open swim from 8-10 pm.  On Saturdays, open swim is 8-10 and then 1-10 and open swim all day (8-10) on Sunday.

From what I understand, the entire building is run by Sport2Sport.  A news report from a few years back said, "A management company that includes some of Impact's original investors, Sport2Sport, is operating the pool, court sports and youth sports training."  Going even further back, I found that the building was constructed by an investment group called Sport2Values.  Sport2Values leased the space to Impact and then, when Impact closed, leased a portion of it to O2 Fitness.  O2 apparently did not lease the pool and that is run by Sport2Sport.

Early morning walk with Emma.

I got my next block of training.  Still not group rides.  I'm a bit bummed about that.  After yesterday's ride I was worried about riding with people.  I just said something to Coach about "I assume that that group rides will come next block."  I don't mind training alone but I find that it's good to get a group ride in once a week to mix things up.

Coach replied that the group rides are coming -- give it a few weeks.


Dr. appt this afternoon (annual).  Changed my meds.  Just wanted to note it here.

Clearly my bike isn't "back" yet. Trying not to focus on the speed here, although my heart rate seemed to not be cooperating very well today either. It was "fighting" me the whole time. It would go up to the 150s (zone 2-3) and I'd hit a very slight down hill and it was quickly drop to the 130s (zone 1). Like weirdly fast dropping to z1.

Rain is still hanging around this morning but is a lot more widely scattered.  I swapped the trainer wheel for my Mavic Ksyrium SL on the road bike so that I can do my brick outside.
