Apex construction update: Detour on Old 1 will continue through the end of July.  Something about bridge redesign for the railroad tracks that run parallel to Old 1 after construction started.

My first Oh Melo Velo group ride of the season. Woo hoo!

Nice ride. I was with a group the whole time (!) and worked the hills as instructed :-) I think that the group was not enamoured with the chillier temperatures or the wind (gusting at 25). When we got to Friendship and New Hill and had a hard time turning left, a few folks said, “We only ride five minutes that way and then turn around. Anyone want to turn here?” No one objected. (the packing in my nose was bothering me some and I didn’t want to push it either)

This morning I the ENT about my nose bleeds.  He looked, identified the offending blood vessel, put some numbing agent on some packing and left me with my book for about 15 minutes.  He came back and used silver nitrate to cauterize blood vessel.  He said that it should be 100% healed in five days and if I have additional nose bleeds after 7-10 days, I should make another appointment at which time he will probably use heat to cauterize it. The whole visit took 30 minutes at most.

I have some light packing in my nostril.  I'm to leave this in for the next day and a half or so.  The doctor had a sense of humor.  He said to take the packing out when I was in the pool!

Two and a half hours after the procedure -- some nose discomfort.  :-(

Nice morning run. I went to bed early last night and woke up feeling a lot better. Today's run called for intervals -- 4 x 2 min @ 2 min recovery.

I have my training plan for the next two weeks.  The rides are getting longer!  Bring it!

This Saturday, I'm thinking of doing the NCBC Summer Rally route but leaving from home instead of driving up to the staring point.  That will make the route about 75 miles with 1570 climbing feet on the MapMyRide scale.

Then next week, the 21st, I'll do the Raven Rock 100k route from home.  That will be about 80 miles with 1585 feet on the MapMyRide scale.  The end of the 100k and the 100 miler are the same so that will be a good preview for me.

Ack! Another bloody nose this morning.  They are frequent enough that I'm starting to feel like I should have it looked into a bit.  At least it was after I was already at work (meaning not in the pool!).

OK, I made an appointment for Wednesday.  I feel less foolish since when I called I said that it seems to be related to exercise and that I didn't think it was a winter dry nose thing.  They said, if it's related to exercise, I was probably right.
