I went out for a run with my wife once I got home from work. We only ran three miles; I kinda wanted to run farther but the wife was a little sore from a personal training session she had earlier in the day. I can still feel pain in my knee despite over a week's worth of rest. So much so that I attempted to run a fourth mile at the gym later but I had to stop because of the pain. This sucks because I was looking forward to some good running this week.

It is the last week of October and it's also the last week of daylight savings time. Next week it will most definitely be dark when I get home from work. Last week was my off week and now its time to casually get back into the swing of things. I'm going to try a new arrangement this week - do my running/biking/swimming before I do my gym thing. Hopefully, this will eliminate any lack of motivation I have as the evening draws on. It's one thing to be able to come home from work and workout when the evening sun is still up and shining and a completely different thing to workout when its a dark, cloudy, and chilly evening.

The nice thing about the first week into the "off season" is that if I don't feel like working out I can act on that impulse and get away with it. I thought about running after the gym this evening but the cold, dark, dreary weather made it seem so unappealing so I skipped it. Of course it's not going to get much better as the midwest autumn, and soon winter, is definitely here so I shouldn't get in the habit of being so easily discouraged.
