The Good Life

My goal was to get at least 90 minutes in, but if I could get in a full 120, even better. However, my little girl woke up from her nap an hour and 27 minutes into my spin. Being the only adult in the house I was officially done.
Shoulders felt really tired early on during my long warm up. Decided to stick with 100s and 200s for the workout. Doing this I was able to put in a quality effort without my form falling apart.
And hey two swims in three days. When was the last time I was able to pull that off?

I ran a route that I haven't ran in a very long time, mostly because it's pretty hilly for the first half. But I was in search of new scenery and a hill or five won't kill me. The wind didn't do me any favors though, except on the way home when it gave me a push for the last two miles. My quads felt trashed at the end.

Call me weak, but I didn't care to run outside in the wind today. It was nothing terribly fierce, I just didn't want to bother with it. Opted instead for a short trainer session until the girls got home.
On the treadmill.
I officially proved that the treadmill's heart rate monitor is crap. Ten minutes into my run I took off the uncomfortable HR strap. However, it still continued to measure my HR for another ten minutes. And according to it my HR went up during this time, not down. Impressive, no?

So, for various reasons my time in the pool has been lacking this month. To help remedy this I showed up at the gym to try to get in a swim, post-work. Silly me, I should know better. The pool was overwhelmed with people. Not that I was surprised, peak gym use hours always have the entire facility abuzz with activity, pool included. I didn't even bother trying to cram myself into one of the lanes, because the quality of my workout (and sanity) would have suffered with the continual stopping and starting. I was actually really annoyed that I didn't/couldn't swim. The availability and use of the pool continues to get on my nerves. All I want is a fairly open lane when my limited workout schedule allows.
