Racquetball after work! Whooo! Finally. K's never played, but I bought 2 very nice racquets on major sale before the holidays. Anyway, he caught on quick, I even stopped 'going easy' on him after a bit. Very fun. Game scores: 15-8ish, 10-15, then 15-9. Something like that.

Slept from 9p-6:15! Awesome. I'm still catching up from the deficit over the holidays.

Finally went to (what was) my favorite gym last night. It was just finished being remodeled and I left disappointed. They turned 2 racquetball courts into an elliptical/treadmill room, leaving only one racquetball court. This one was my favorite because it's one of the smallest military gyms around base and this one is off-base, close to our house. Of course the court was being used after work last night and I didn't feel like going on-post, then driving clear across it to the big gym with the other courts. Very disappointed.

I guess we'll drive all the way over there after work to play.

Burpees day 10: 10!

FOOD.
FOOD.
FOOD.

I was feeling great all weekend! I was even going to write in here one day how much more energy I've been having--it's been great! I don't feel any highs-lows with sugar rushes, no "afternoon crash" or anything. Just...feeling great! Until yesterday.

Big nutritional fail that made for a very unpleasant afternoon/evening. I'll say it started with Sat evening, when I had a burger & sweet potato fries (on a lettuce wrap) at a burger bar. It was fabulous, but wayyyyyy heavier than I'm used to. And more volume too. So. Sunday AM, I felt fine, did my little walk jog to brunch. 9-10am, I was NOT hungry. A tiny bit, so I ate a little, but really just picked at my plate. At least I ate the bacon. Sunday PM, still not that hungry, just a little, so I ate about 1 sweet potato.

On to Monday, yesterday. Brought my lunch to work, had lunch a little earlier than I would have liked, but no big deal. Realized that I did not bring my taco meat for my salad. Need the meat! I don't use dressings, so must.have.meat! Had brought leftover broccoli & a sweet potato, so I ate that. Then we got busy. Then I left early to do do registration & pay stuff for school.............then I crashed. Big time. Not enough water. Not nearly enough food. Major headache. Dizzy. The works! It sucked.

Doing this Whole30 isn't hard, but you actually have to EAT. Calories. You know, so you don't pass out. Got home and binged on water and food: bowl of cauliflower rice, the last of the taco meat & 3 pieces of bacon & 32 oz of water.

After that we wanted to go play racquetball and needed to go to the store. On the way the headache got worse and I got dizzy (hello, migraine coming on...). Ditched the gym, went to the store, came home & laid on the couch. Then went to bed before 9.

Lesson learned.

Burpees day 9: 9! (0530)

Had a busy, but good weekend. Busy because we chose to be. I kept to my Whole30, but it was a challenge Sat after hiking. Our friend wanted to go out to eat, so it was a back-and-forth about which restaurants would have good enough salads. Ended up at the specialty burger bar because I could get a sweet potato, salad and eat a burger patty. They had a "lettuce wrap" option for the burger which was awesome. I ate 'heavier' than I have been, more food than I was used to, but it was definitely earned and I needed recovery food.

Plan was to run/walk to brunch yesterday, then walk home. Had a veggie scramble and bacon and couldn't even finish it. Way too much food, or I was still stuffed from the burger. Walked to the dog park.

Making a big effort to be more pedestrian in our neighborhood, run/walk to places: friends house, restaurant, grocery, etc. It was a good first step in doing that this weekend, even if people thought we were a little nuts.

Burpees Day 8: 8!
I've been doing these in the AM while my coffee is brewing. It'll get tougher for sure!

Sore today! The hiking was difficult, and made even worse by my slippery Vibrams. Was not happy with K or our friend for not telling me it was a rocky trail and my footwear was inappropriate. (they had done it before, I hadn't) My feet feel bruised today! BUT, it was a good workout, pretty steep trails.

Finally feel like "me" after a day to recharge. Got stuff done, nothing stressful & spend most of the day outside. Definitely needed it after the stressful & sad holidays.

Burpee day 7: 7!

Hiking: Tough trail from TransMtn to Mammoth Rock. It would have been ok if I hadn't worn my Vibrams. When the trail is ALL rock, most of it loose, your feet will hurt. It would have been better in my Treks or Bikilas, but my Sprint's had no traction.

CrossFit:
wu: 500m row, 5 pull-ups
WOD:
2 laps around gym
3 kb swings
3 wall ball
2 laps
6 & 6
2 laps
9 & 9
2 laps
12, 12.
cd: 10 GHD situps (my own practice)

It was supposed to be 20min AMRAP, but it was enough squatting for me, it was irritating my hip. Scaled it down.

Ummm, woke up with some major digestion issues. Don't know what upset my stomach, but it's painful. K ate the same things I ate yesterday, so I have no idea what pissed it off so much.

Wow. Nice to have a 'free' weekend. Do things we want and relax.

On the sched for today:

drop Ory off at groomer

CrossFit

stop by knitting store (think there is a new-only-one here!)

return a vacuum

pick up Ory

Sports Authority for balls.

Play some racquetball! Scrapped for hiking instead! GORGEOUS day.

independent jeweler to replace lost chain. No chain, but different necklace and earrings acquired! Schwiiing!

Not much to say. Blah. Busy day at work yesterday and didn't get home until 7:30. One of my patients was a guy that I deployed with, we had run together several times. Small world.

Burpee Day 5: 5

I am LOVING this cookbook. I made an adobo sauce for sweet potatoes that was awesome, the veggie tomato sauce was pretty good and there's plenty more I'll try after the Whole30.

The past couple of days (K's on treatment), I've made him chocolate dipped pineapple, biscuits with gravy and gotten him ice cream. Some looked 'good' but I knew it wasn't worth it. Didn't even lick my fingers! I found my only 'trigger' was last night after my spicy sweet potatoes I would have liked a piece of chocolate. I told myself "no", did some KB swings, and the thought passed immediately. At work there's been tons of leftover holiday chocolates, smoked meats & cheeses, etc. Basically everything people have leftover from their parties. None for me! In the past, I would have.

You're not supposed to weigh yourself, as the idea is to feel better not focus on a number. I'm weighing anyway as I want to make sure my portions are correct and that number keeps going down. In just a couple days, it's going the right way. So, yay!
