I got a swim in after all! whew, I feel better. It was a good one too! This was my primary oly training swim over the last few years. I looked at the last time I did this swim, July '05, and this was 5 minutes faster! oooh yeaaaaaaaaaa....

...OK, if any of you notice I took that crap out of my blog.  I get really effen crabby when my workouts get screwed up.  Work is now screwing up my noon swim plan, so today is a washout.  Oh well.  I'll be chompin' at the bit to hit it hard tomorrow and Friday.  They are gonna have to be epic days.  Sorry for the whine...I'll go get some cheese to go with that...

Hills hills hills with jszat. Great ride. jszat can smoke me going up hills, and he proved it over and over again this morning. I think we hit every major hill in the area this morning, some multiple times.

Run
  • 52m 46s
  • 7.10 miles
  • 07m 25s /Mi

This was my brain re-introducing my body to running after about 2.5 weeks off. The first real run of substantive distance. Felt real smooth and strong. Calves are feeling it so I'm glad I didn't go for 10. Had to be home by 5 so my wife could get to the gym. Probably a blessing in disguise.

For all of you sweating in various places in the country, it was 47 when I left my house for my run this morning.  Can't seem to shake the chilly mornings around here.

Did nothing of substance over the weekend.  Well, we DID stuff, but it had no physical activity involved.  Went to a graduation party (and ate) and a Brewers tailgate party/game (and ate).  Sunday we went to see the movie CARS with my family (and fortunately skipped the popcorn and had a better food day).  The movie's got GREAT animation and detail, but IMHO they forgot about the story a little bit.  It dragged in places.

So, I was feeling pent up and ready to roll this morning when the alarm went off.

Bike
  • 2h 10m
  • 43.32 miles
  • 19.99 Mi/hr

I wonder if I eliminate the coast up my rather short driveway, if I'd be at 20 mph for a 40+ mile ride? That would be epic.

This was a ride with jszat on a cool course he's set up. He is the map-meister. We had rollers but trending "down" early. Not sure of the number but halfway through the ride we had one h#ll of a pace put down. The way back was uphill and against the wind, putting me in the ditch. Ate a breakfast bar at 23 per jszat suggestion, and that really did help. I've got to quit being such a bonehead about nutrition.

Anyway this was a great ride, and a nice example of why training with someone is beneficial. I gave jszat everything I had in the tank.

Looking forward to starting to run next week.  And some other cool news...on 7/30 there's a new tri local to me, which is a huge bonus.  Even more of a bonus, they have a kid's tri, and my son (8yrs. old) was INSTANTLY wanting to participate.  No push or other stuff on my part.  He was in from the get go.  That gives me another olympic on the schedule and more importantly, a chance to see my son try out this crazy sport.  He's a little goofy so this should be right up his alley.  :)

Guess I can't slack in the pool any more like I have been...

June 8

Bike
  • 1h 12m 40s
  • 23.32 miles
  • 19.25 Mi/hr

Good ride with some hills and flats out to East Troy. I was dogging early feeling sorta crappy. Was in the low 18's about halfway and just told myself to pick 'er up. Picked up the average nicely over the last 1/2 of the ride.

IF anybody's curious, I REEELY REELY Like riding my new bike.  ;)

Today should have been a run but after rather foolishly pounding myself playing dodgeball and running afterward, I decided to officially start a normal running week next week, and rest it until then.  It was sore yesterday, but seems fine again now.
