Ran down the back side from the top of Thumb Butte. Not as fast as the last time, but just took it easy at a nice relaxed pace. Good quad muscle work.
Power hiked to the top of Thumb Butte. Felt better than the last time, still pretty winded at the top but covered the 0.8 miles in 18:20 which was 40 seconds quicker. 10:33 split to the hairpin turn at the bench. Rested a couple of minutes before doing the relaxed jog down the back side.

Ran 2 miles around the lake trail. Felt a lot better than when I did the exact same run last week. This time I only walked for 2 short sections, one of them being the upper stretch of the steep hill. And I was 4 minutes faster for the loop this time as well. Running is still not fun and I doubt that it ever will be, but at least I didn't feel like I was 2 minutes away from coronary thrombosis this time!

Trail run around the Willow Lake area. I actually split this up into 2 runs. Did the first 2 miles, ending up at the parking lot where I ran into a guy who had a flat tire on his mtn bike. He was a student at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and it was only a 2 mile drive from there, so I gave him a quick ride back to his dorm. Returned to the trail lot and ran an extra 1.1 miles, and did a bit of walking on the steep hill sections on both loops, hence the slower pace. Even without walking, I don't think I'm running much faster than around 11:40 per mile tops. I'm good with that though, at my age. At least I didn't feel like I was totally wasted today, so maybe things are getting better. I've dropped 6 lbs in the past few weeks, and I'm sure I'll feel better after I lose a lot more.
Still could feel that calf muscle pull but it didn't feel any worse at the end than it did when I started, so I'm not worrying too much about it. Trying to keep my stride short and quick...I think my past issues with PF were from over-striding.
