Lesson with DD. Focused on elbow position, keeping leg axis more horizontal and kicking up and down (versus sideways or diagonally)while rotating upper body, shoulder position on recovery to reduce drag, and keeping the fingers on my right hand tight together (I tend to have the R hand open and didn't realize it - reduces effectiveness of pull when open). Ended with 4 timed 50 meters:
Last week

This week:

Improvement 3.30 seconds - an eternity!!!
Was going to do a run tonight but I have very little energy due to this bug I picked up. Instead, Vickie and I walked the 3 dogs for a while. Then, I changed out the seat on the Felt DA. The stock seat was too wide and cushiony at the nose (the "boys" didn't like that). I put on the ass-hatchet Fizik Arione Tri seat I bought on sale last winter. Less is more. With the silver panels on the back portion it looks AWESOME on the bike compared to the all-black seat that came with the bike. Now I have to switch out the 11-23 cassette from my training wheel to the Zipp 808s and give the bike a wash. Heading down to Iowa's Pigman HIM tomorrow morning.

Lesson with DD. He was excited about my improvement at Pigman on Sunday, compared to Racine a few weeks ago. However, we figure that Pigman may have been shorter if you compare David Thompson's times at Racine and Pigman. Regardless, a big improvement. This morning we focused on the kick. I could barely move down the lane while kicking with a board - got tired very quickly. We went over what parts of the leg should be doing the work and which parts should be relaxed. My kick needs a LOT of work this winter. Also spent some time on arm position on the recovery. Man, a lot of things to think about.
